CPU water cooling help with NZXT Switch 810 White Case help

Hi ok so this is my first ever water cooling build I am planning on buying.

My motherboard will be Asus P9X79 WS S2011 Intel X79 DDR3 ATX

And the cpu will be Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail [BX80619I73930K].

My case will be NZXT Switch 810 White Case and I need some help in picking a radiator for the top of the case can someone help me which is the best radiator of this case for cpu loop?

I want to go with XSPC 5.25" Dual Drive Bay Reservoir for One Laing DDC Pump Multi Fascia : DDCBAYONE but I am stuck with the pump as I am new to water cooling what would you suggest as I know I can either go with Laing DDC pump or Swiftech MCP 350, MCP355 can be installed but I don’t really now much about pumps so can me be someone help me out and tell me which is better for my cpu loop?’

I also want a cpu water block but the only company I know of is ek but I am new to water cooling so I just need some advice are ek any good in cpu cooling?

We need a little more info. With radiators you have a measurement called FPI(Fins Per Inch). A radiator can be set up for low rpm fans or high rpm fans, which side of the fence will you be on? With a low number of FPI lets say 10, you will want low speed fans and with a high number of FPI say 20 you will want high speed fans. Low rpm fans range from about 600 rpm up to 1500 rpm and the high rpm fans go from 800 on up to around 3000.

I will be watercooling my next rig in the same case as you and right now I am unsure as to what radiator I want to pop in the top. It will be a 420 mm rad and then later on I will also be putting in a 280 in the bottom and throwing my GPU on the loop.

If I were you I would look at the Phobya, XSPC, Black ice sr1, Coolgate and read some reviews about them and then make you decision. The radiator should be around 60 mm thick tho do not go any thinner.

As for the pump I will be going with one of the MCP655 variable speed, probably the one from swifttech and will be using the Dual Bay Danger Den Monsoon. I like how the pump is fitted into the res, leaves more room for the res to actually hold water.

The CPU blocks well I am either going with the EK EX supreme or the Swiftech Apogee

They are both high flow blocks.

The best thing to do is to find the style of block you like and just go and read some reviews on it. That goes for just about everything here there are plenty of reviews on all of these products that can help you make you decision as well.

Hope this helps!

Here is a good review that I found and it looks like I will be going with the XSPC raystorm cpu block. That thing is bad ass

I do not think so you should watch TTL review of the NZXT switch 810 and I believe he says what the max size of the radiator you can fit in the top. TTL is also planning on making a water cooling review just for the 810 hopefully soon. NZXT Switch 810 Review

There is not a hug difference between Push/pull and Pull or Push, some say they would rather have a huge radiator like the Monsta and only in a push or pull setup rather then a push/pull setup. I do believe that the Monsta will fit but int a push or pull setup only.

Will the Hardware Labs Black Ice® GT Stealth 420mm Triple Radiator : GTS420 not be ok for just the cpu loop?

Get the monsta 360/420 and have fans on pull in the roof, that will handle a CPU and GPU no probs with the fans turned right down, it's overkill for just the CPU though. An XSPC RX240 would be perfect for just CPU, but i'd get the RX360, that way if you are only doing your CPU but change your mind in the future to do your GPU as well you don't have to buy another rad to do it.

OK i will get the monsta 360/420 but I can not find them in uk so my then I will go with RX360.

What fans should I use with this rad?

OK i will get the monsta 360/420 then as I want to do water cooling with the monsta 360/420 can I also put a gpu in their as well in the feutre?

You will be able to throw a GPU in the loop no probs, the 420 would be the better option than the 360 though.

For fans, if you go for the 360 i'd get Scythe Gental Typhoons 1850rpm.

For the 420 i'm not sure about good 140mm fans but the best I know of are the Cougar vortex ones.

The Monsta rads are not out yet so you might have to wait before they are released, I can only find a link to the Monsta 360 but there is going to be a 420 as well.

It says they won't be in stock till May but I emailed Alphacool in Germany http://www.alphacool.com/ a while ago asking when they would be selling them and they said they would have them in April and resellers e.g. everyone else in May.

may I ask what fans where you saing i went to their site and they seem to have two

VORTEX HDB 140mm cooling fan

VORTEX 140mm cooling fan

not sure which fan you are tellng me they both look good.

Also I found my cpu block it will be a Swiftech Apogee HD

and for the reservoir will be Monsoon D5 Premium - RED with Black Trim - Dual Bay.

Know all to figure out will be the rad and fans and pump.

Through for the pump whats the best D5 pump?

io also opened thread overclock.net and someone said this

If you're not set on the rad then i'd recommend the black ice stealth series either 360 or 420mm, it fits the case without any mods.

I am vert tempted through know.

Go with the HDB version of the Cougar fans.

CPU block, and res are fine, good choices. For the pump go with the MCP655 or the D5 they are both the same pump just different stickers, make sure you get the Vario version though so you can adjust the speed.

Hey Sieb have you used or heard anything about the XSPC Raystrom cpu block? Would that be a better block for him? I know it does not come with all the little extras but it is less restrictive and handles the heat a little better and it is cheaper only due to the extras being taken out.

I found the 420 monsta but it is from Frozencpu so in the states... 420 Monsta

The Apoge is still a good block, the Raystorm would be better but it won't make a huge amount of difference to overall performance.

Thank You for the link

I just realized that rad magicc8ball linked is for a 104.2mm thick rad

That one will not fit, you have a maximum of 85mm with the Switch.

I should of mentioned that I meant the Alphacool Monsta rads (which are 80mm thick) and not other ones.

The monsta is awesome low rpm fan rad. Im getting one too, the release date is May last i checked.

However i thought in ttls review he had a 60mm rad with 25mm fans and it looked tight for space. So fans would have to be mounted externally.

havent looked at those but I'll bet there along the same lines way to thick for low rpm fans would need high cfm and static pressure fans to make it work good

Hey I think i will either go with

Hardware Labs Black Ice® GT Stealth 420mm Triple Radiator : GTS420

or

EK CoolStream XTC 420mm Triple Radiator Black : XTC 420

dont know which one through but i think i might go with the

Hardware Labs Black Ice® GT Stealth 420mm Triple Radiator : GTS420

"Note: This product will be without the necessary connections delivered to you in putting together your water cooling maximum freedom to be able to offer. We recommend in principle "just" plug or screw terminals 1 / 4 inch to 8 / 6 mm or 1 / 4 inch to 10/8mm (depending on the system used Wakü) in connection with this product.Matched connectors and adapters can be found here. "????????

what do you think?

Also a note for the pump which one should i get

Alphacool VPP655 / Laing D5 Single Edition Pump : VPP655SE

or

Aquacomputer Laing D5 Pump with Tachosignal???????????????
