ok this may sound like a stupid question but im reasearching my new cpu and i have seen that the new 45nm processors from intel are now out to buy, now my question is what would be best?

the 65nm 3.0Ghz core 2 duo E6850

or

the 45nm 3.0Ghz core 2 duo E8400

i know that i need a motherboard that supports 45nm, i have one in mind the asus striker II 780i

take into account that im a gamer and i watch films

If it`s just a choice of which and not price, I`d get the newer one.

Do a bit of research on how well the mobo works with it right now tho. Chances are if it doesn`t "correctly" work with it, i.e. not allow to many oc options, temp readings, or voltages - u may feel messed about a bit til a bios release irons it all out. Wouldn`t bother me too much, but it does some people. (heck I`m still w8ing for some ironing lol)

45nm might not necessarily mean the E8400 and ranges.

780i boards are meant to be mean. What`s happening with 790i ?

The 45nm 8400... I've seen crazy air clocks on those! Remember 1.45v is new safe max voltage for 45nm

Easy 4.0ghz, some 4.5's etc... Some results in here

thanks for the link smith

seem to me that most ppl are getting about 4Ghz but thats on X35 mobos

im hoping that someone uses the E8400 with the striker 2

i wanna see what the results are like.
