hi guys

for some reason my motherboard always runs my cpu fan at 100% which i dont like because its noisy wen it really doesnt need to be.

is there any way to change this in the bios so that it changes speed properly wen its at idle and stressed?

mobo is a msi z77a g45 and cooler is hyper 212 evo with stock pwm fan.

thanks
Devin

Go to mainboard settings. hardware monitor and it should be in there. TBH though for me it doesn't work at any setting and my stock cooler always runs at 2100rpm and its not bad and can't hear it.

thanks for that mate. its a new board and im still learning where everything is in the bios.
hopefully it'll only be a temporary problem. just waiting on some sp120s so i can run them off a molex.
is there any bios settings i have to disable due to not using the motherboard header?

Take a look at the cable on the Blade master Fan to see for any damage... if it looks fine, make sure you connect it to the CPU_FAN and not the sys_fan. (sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how often people do this)

Keep looking through the BIOS you might find something to do with the cpu fan, I'm unsure on MSI as I own Gigabyte board.

If you feel up to it, do a Bios Flash to the most recent (no Beta's though)

Im pretty sure its just a setting in the BIOS that needs adjusting. I built a rig for my wife last year and when I fired it up it sounded like a jet taxiing down the runway. Cant remember the exact spot where it was but I only had to do just a little digging before I found it. Now its set just fine.

I think some motherboard's just default to full balls on the CPU fan.
