CPU Cooler Help

Hi guys,

First time posting here so bare with me haha.

Basically im in the market for a new system, after using purely my laptop for the past 2ish years. Ive built my own system before but that was about 4-5 years ago now so im a bit behind on hardware.

My last system was watercooled, but for what im going to be doing its just not worth the money to do that again.

Anyway, im looking at getting either a i5 2500k or 2550k, and overclocking it to around 4.2ghz most likely, so nothing too serious. I was considering an EVGA Superclock or an Akasa Venom Voodoo - both seem to get pretty decent reviews, especially the EVGA. I know theres slightly better coolers out there, but ideally i dont want to spend any more than £60, and im a bit sceptical about the sheer size of some of the higher end stuff with regards to fitting over RAM.

What do you reckon? Is there anything else i should be considering?

Cheers guys.

you could even get away with a CM 212+ or EVO there very inexpensive and at that oc you wont be pushing alot of volts on a 2500k so it should do nicely.

With the CM Hyper 212+ I was running at around 65 - 70 C with my 2600K @ 4 Ghz with HT on, so with a 2500K you could expect similar/most likely better temps at 4.2 GHz.

cant help you i rushed a H100

Thanks for the replies guys. Glad to hear that the ones i mentioned should be more than enough, and that V6 looks pretty nice too. I guess the only thing that could be a slight issue is whether i could fit one of these coolers with ram like Corsair Vengeance with tall heatsinks, but ill just take an educated guess at that haha.
