Because im a non-stop party, i've been playing with combos for this damned bench.
400x8 RAM @ 400MHz
198 secs (946pts)
400x8 RAM @ 500MHz
179 secs (1045) (big difference compared to above!)
400x8 RAM @ 600MHz
175 secs (1068 ) (smaller difference....running into bottleneck?)
still @ 3200MHz CPU:
457x7 RAM @ 571MHz
168 secs (1113) (test seems to benefit from FSB and RAM)
Then to 3600MHz...
400x9 RAM @ 500MHz
173 secs (1080) (only a small boost compared to similar above, but at x8 )
450x8 RAM @ 562
161 secs 1161 (FSB, fairly decent RAM + speed)
______________________________________________
Seeing as the results are scaling very little with CPU speed, I have to wonder if my HDD is the bottleneck. Looking at the GIMP in the background (har har har) it seems to be working with a LOT of small files, and those thrash HDDs....
The CPU average is in the 70% range anyway, so things should in theory be scaling....
ok...nothing new, FSB and RAM help benches, but its good (for me anyway) to see how much or how little things scale
