Could I get away with this?

I was toying around with the idea of expanding my Rig to getting another Graphics Card, because I play a serious amount of games, and im constantly wanting those better scores on Benchmarks (OC"3"D of mine).

My Rig specs are as follows:

  • Corsair 600T Case
  • Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 Motherboard
  • 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RAM @ 1600MHz
  • AMD FX-8320 8-Core CPU @ Stock (For now)
  • 3GB XFX R9 280X Graphics Card
  • 120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD
  • 1TB WD Caviar Blue HDD
  • DVD Writer

My PSU is a Corsair RM650 Gold Rated. Woudl I be able to get away with running a second R9 280X in CF?

Thanks.

Probrably not. AMD products tend to use more power than others. I would recommend a 850+ psu. My recommendations are the Corsair RM-850 or RM-1000 psu, or the silverstone strider 850 or 1000 watt gold evolution psu. The good thing about getting a slightly higher wattage rated psu than say the 850 watt ones is that you have a bit more head room for other things that you may put in the future.

Yeah I wouldnt dude, it would probably be running at its rated or even beyond it. Really not what you want. Youd be looking at an 850w for that rig because of that terribad CPU
