Cooling the mammoth COSMOS 2....

Story as of 2 days ago was all stuff was ready to be fitted in the COSMOS 2 case ordered in by a good friend who owns an I.T. store, But as the processor is OEM no heatsink was available and still awaiting AHHEEEM (>SpecialTech's<), COSMOS 2 best recommended watercooling options.
It's a damn shame such a big case is only fielding an ASUS SABERTOOTH X79 LGA2011 but that means as i've checked on SpecialTech theres only a waterblock an mosfet block for it, whether they plan on a southbridge cooler I have no idea as a thin heatsink and tiny fan on a heavy m/b can only last so long can't it...
What watercooling setup would you guys n girls recommend to utilize the case?

The sabertooth comes with a 5/7 year warranty (I cant remember which one) so I would say that Asus is confident in the product lasting even with stock cooling and overclocking.

As for the size of the board in the case it really just means you have space to route cables neatly and piping/resevoir neatly into the case. Personally I hate seeing a case crammed full of stuff as it just looks crowded.

As for the cooling most people put a 360 rad in the roof something like a rs360 from xspc would do or even and rx 360. Then they put two 240 mm rads in the bottom instead of the hard drive cages. Then it would be up to you to decide what fans and pump/res and blocks etc to use.

2 bottom rads and a 360 push pull for 1 waterblock and possibly a mosfet block(if EK can get one), ok well how would that work?
Thinking maybe get 3 more fans to finish the top 360 push pull, specifically from aria actually:
http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials...formance+Edition+Single+Pack+?productId=50716

Those fans TTL uses and featured in the 40 fan H100 episode.
BTW whats your fan setup too, all new ones or stock?

That would be complete over kill just for one block. If it is just for the cpu then a 360 rad in the roof would suffice. Even the 360 and 1x 240 in the bottom should be enough for a cpu and gpu.

As for fans I am not sure if you can get push pull in the top of the case. I have not done it and I am still researching watercooling myself. Maybe someone can confirm if you can or cannot.

As for the fans themselves the Corsair AF series are more for air flow through a case and not really designed for a rad. Get SP 120's for the rads and then a AF 140 for the exhaust fan if you want to change that too.

My setup atm is using stock fans in rear and front. Then using stock fans on the door to help cool the gpus. I am however using SP 120's QE on the H100. I plan to run SP 120's on my watercooled setup when I do it.

well i've no plans to watercool my gpu as its the gtx690 by EVGA and looks too damn good to strip it down so i'm searching for a backplate for that, I have 2 identical fans i had in my dragon rider rig and 1 arctic cooler 9 fin fan, bought 3 x red led syckle fans from coolermaster for the top 360 rad. I think i'll either utilise the space and get a 250ml phobya reservoir or a bay reservoir.
Don't really want to have a res.pump combo.
i'm gonna chat to aria no as they might be able to shift unused points to my new e-mail address, as for the fan controller onboard which was designed for the stock fans, how is it working with new fans?

Whats the sabertooth like then?
as for fans, they will all be coolermaster i think, at very least a few stock fans and a push pull 6 fan config. of c/m fans

The sabertooth is a good board. I have had no issues with it really and I have easily overclocked my 3930k to good volts. The only thing is I wish it looked more like the Z77 version.

I would look into see if there is enough space for push pull before committing to buying the fans. Also I think it is better to have a thicker rad with one set of fans than a thin rad with push pull. I am open to correction on that.

we have the same m/b and case what rad you got installed in the top?
simply can i put the led sickle c/m fans under the rad and the 3 sp fans under the to filter to fix to the rad?
bought/ordered the EVGA backplate
:)

that sorts out the gpu, and yeah the 77 m/b was practically all armored up, very nice, still can't figure out why theres no optional southbridge support but i've never bought any other board but an asus

Just be carefull because you cannot get a XSPC RX360 in the roof of this case, if you want to fit a motherboard.

You can fit a 360x35mm or possibly a 420x35mm rad in the roof and then you can fit either 2x 240x60mm or a 360x60mm rad in the bottom of the case, aslong as your power supply is not to long.

infact it would be a massive suprise and an inconvienience if an EK-KIT or an XSPC kit rad wouldn't host a 3 fan config. under the top then 3 for under the grill, that would really suprise me!

You can fit a 360mm rad in the roof but you cannot fit a 60mm thick 360mm rad in the roof.

I will link a couple of pictures when I get home, although there will be a mixture of build's in the case because I was always messing with my build in the Cosmos 2 when I had one.

ah thats really not made my day, such a big case and its not gonna fit a thick rad, when i see it i'll take measurements,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Phobya-G-...828&pid=100033&prg=1011&rk=2&sd=121076370583&

So this would be no good?

Not in the roof and it might be extremely tight in the bottom.

This is a 360x60mm in the bottom of the case

Now I don't have a close up of the gap between the top of the board and the bottom of the top rad, but these are with a 35mm thick rad in the roof and the fans in the space at the top of the case, so not in the motherboard compartment.

For the cost of the case, the watercooling support should have been allot better because cheaper cases have more watercooling potential than the Cosmos 2.

From TTl's review when I listened carefully he said best get a thick radiator to mount fans on the outside

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321054283565

here from koolance is a rad with push 3 x fans in the case and outside ontop of the rad too, then theres the rest of the main components, from his review i was like yep 360 60mm rad and where happy, nope has to be 30-45 for fans attatched inside the some outside but realistically its the fans and radiator space on the inside the would be literally mm from the m/b!

will an xspc kit do ok with a 360 rad and fans underneath?
