Introduction :

After years of use my old pc peripherals had worn out. I was using the same old bog standard keyboard and it was time for change, i have been gaming for about 3 years now and it was key that i had a sutible mouse and keyboard for the job, aswell as a mouse mat (if you can call it that)

Razer Lycosa:

After trailing trough review after review one manafacturer kept popping up, Razer. My dad has used these before and i like the look of them. I wanted a keyboard that was design wise, nice to look at but also performed well. The board has one USB 2.0 port on the rear of the board also with audio I/O ports. It has backlick keys and a handy touch screen panel to adjust volume and backlight settings.

Key Features:

Backlit Keys: For those midnight gamers out there

Touch Pannel: For switching between light settings

My Thoughts:

After using this keyboard for around two weeks I really Like the feel of the board. The rubber keys make keystrokes feel that much more comfier than you bog standard palsic ones. The backlighting is really good and couldnt have asked for more. I really like the touch screen feature as it allows me to adjust the lighting to the occasion. One thing that could be improved is the fact that the lighting is not changable it is set stricly to WASD were as some gamers may use the arrow keys.

Razer Deathadder:

Aswell as a new keyboard it was time for a new Mouse, a mouse is the key to gaming. I have used few mice before and didnt know what to look for. After searching through reviews and sites I knew what i wanted. A razer mouse to match my Razer Keyboard. I went with the Razer deathadder as i got it bundeled in with a mouse pad (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-001-RA) for a cheap price. The mouse has five buttons which are easily programable using the Razer Deathadder Software. It has the same blue leds as the Lycosa and fitted in perfect with my desk theme. With the capability of 3500dpi and 1000mhz polling rate this mouse was perfect for those fast turns.

Key Features:

3500dpi: for presision aiming under close combat

Non-slip Keys: Rubbers texture to feel and look good while playing, and to keep correct posture with no slipping

Five Programable Button: Set-up how ever you like

Braided Cable: Snapping or strectching the cable is a big no with the braided cable.

My Thoughts:

Also after using this mouse for around two weeks it has really grown on me, the shape of the mouse fits perfectly with my Larger hands, the mouse buttons are the perfect length and the rubber coating makes them real comfy. The leds in the razer mice are the Pristine blue and look perfect on anybodys desk. One thing that is rather buggy is the mouse is a finger print magnet, o and dont try wiping it off with a wet cloth you end up with a bigger mark

User Setup:

Setting up the razer deathadder is real easy with the help of the Deathadder Program. It allows you to Change DPI, Polling rate, Sensitivity and even X+Y axis movement all at a click of a button. All the mouse button are changable giving the user room to experement. A key feature is the save and load giving the ability to save profile as you go along.

Whats in the box:

Of course will all razer products the mouse came supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity, Razer Stickers, Razer Product Catologue, Master guide and a Quick Start Quide.

Boogie Bug XL:

What would a mouse be without the perfect mouse mat to go with it. Well that is if you can call a 3ft long pad a mousemat. The mat came bundled in with the mouse and was quite cheap considering. The mat is cloth and would fill most peoples desk space. It is also a soft touch material and is easy on the wrists.

My thoughts:

This mat is perfect for my usage, it holds not only the mouse but also the keyboard and comes in a nice black finish. The mouse glides perfectly along the cloth and the mat dosent move atall. The mat is very big so make sure you measure up before purchasing this mat.

Ehhhh I think its supposed to be WASD anti-ghosting

it basically means that you can press three or more keys (i think upto 24 keys at once tho lycosa has anti-ghosting on only the WASD keys and some other keys around it ) so u can like walk, crouch, and lean and shoot (from the keyboard) at the same time.

Lycosa is a great keyboard although I have had 2 hiccups, one is the play/pause key at one point was continuously on for some reason, this resulted in me crashing a heli when media player popped up in battlefield, passenger wasn't best pleased

. Solved this by setting media controls to WinAmp which I don't have and hopefully will never need so media controls do nothing (wasn't my reason for buying this keyboard so meh). Other one was the a and d keys stopped working randomly and I had to reboot to get them working again. They weren't serious had to send the keyboard back problems but if you want to buy this keyboard bear in mind you too may get these little problems now and again.

Funny you should say about the windows media player, a guy off our server had this problem and took it back to the shop also, just a shame he couldnt get another as PC World had none left :|

Am I the only one that finds it odd that they bundled a Razer mouse with a mousepad that isn't made by Razer? But it's nice how the one they give you is big enough for both your keyboard and mouse, in case the wrist rest is too short on the keyboard.

I find myself going back to that picture of your keyboard time and time again !!! DAMN YOU CallumB NOW I WANT ONE

Nice review.

I personally got the Razer keyboard based on this and some other reviews, and then quickly sold it again.

It just felt really cheap to me. But I'm also more of a fan of mechanical keyboards. The model I had was also plagued by the issue of keys randomely not working and having to unplug and replug the usb to resolve it.

All in all a bad experience with the keyboard at least.
