Computer Constant restarts?

I'm using a Corsair TX850M which I purchased from Scan, little over 3months a go, and over the past month I've had problems with my PC - I am assuming that it's my PSU but not entirely sure.

I'm getting the Kernel Power Event 41 (Task 63). (which is windows not shutting down properly).

Anytime I'm browsing the web or whatever it wants to restart - and does. I've told the computer not to restart and instead show me a Blue Screen (to try and diagnose my problem), but it still appears to restart when it wants.

Someone has also told me to do tests with MemTest, but the problem is - you need one stick in at a time I think, and I've got 2 stick's in, and since I don't want to pull my Noctua off (Since I don't have any more paste), I doubt it'll be an option.

Any ideas on what to do?

I don't have a multimeter anywhere.

Any help is appreciated.

Also - sorry if this is the wrong section - had no idea where else to put it.

You can do memtests with 2 sticks fine. If it fails with 2 - then you take one out to diagnose which stick is bad. If it passes with 2 - then the RAM's fine.

It's unlikely it's a power issue while on webpages, unless you're running something crazy like 2 690s and a massively overclocked 3960x, and even then, you're unlikely to be maxing the psu when the PC isnt under load. What specs do you have?

I'll try that, Would Daemon Tools be best to 'mount' the disc, since I don't have one at hand

I haven't actually overclocked since I'm happy with my current performance. My specs are at the bottom of the original post.

Edit- Also, I'm not too sure it's a coincidence, but ever since I built my PC, the Restart button wasn't actually working (when wiring was fine - I even tried turning the Restart SW wire round to see if I had it the wrong way, but appears not.)

Can you not put it on a USB drive? Can it recognise a mounted daemon tools on boot?

A TX850 is massive overkill for that rig anyway, so no the power supply wont be the issue

Erm, I actually never thought of putting it on a USB. I'll try that.

I'm praying to god that it's not actually hardware though, and hope it's something to do with my Operating System, since I really won't be too chuffed sending back my Ram/Hardware back to Scan when I don't have the right equipment again to fix the computer.

Do the memtest - update the bios - clear the CMOS - reinstall graphics drivers

If none of these fix the issue, may be worth a nice clean windows install

I've tried quite a few clean installs of Windows, because I was told it was an issue with that, unfortunately it still happened.

Updating BIOS - What do you mean by that? :P

Memtest - Surprisingly I had an error with it - no idea what though, I'm uploading a video to youtube to show you what happened.

I paused the video and got this:

Try the RAM again. That doesnt seem like a fail of the RAM to me, just unable to read the processor correctly. Maybe the BIOS update will fix it

Tried running it again, it restarted so I double checked BIOS and saw it was still version F5.

So, I then went back on and noticed I only extracted - not installed (stupid of me)

I then tried to run it, and apparently I can't because it's not a 64bit version.

I checked their website again and saw nothing about a 64bit version.

Should I be running it through Windows or should I be booting it on startup?

Also - I get the feeling that it may be because of the BIOs that the PC isn't functioning correctly - reason being, since that date (30th of May) - I've actually experienced this problem.

Edit- Got it updated via @BIOs - trying again now!

On my mates gigabyte board we did have some issues with the BIOS and had to RMA the board because of it. The mouse interface was so glitchy and it was impossible to accurately click to change settings.

Try and fix it first, because Scan can be arsey about motherboard returns. We'll get to that if we come to it though :)

I actually don't use the Mouse when in BIOS so I never have that problem. But I usually have the problem when I've clean installed Windows, but thats no concern now since I have an Old Keyboard I can use any time.

Also, I've ran Memtest, I only done 1 test since I wasn't too sure how many to do, and it past, 100%.

Do you mean that the CPU is running in the default profile or that you have have under-volted/clocked it?

Default profile - haven't changed it.

Has the BIOS updated? and have you cleared the CMOS?

I updated BIOS to F11, I reset CMOS because I noticed it looked like I had 'underclocked' Ram, but I've fixed that as far as I'm aware..

What I've done is burn UBCD to a disc, and tried to run diagnostics. I noticed that when I tried to run them on the CPU, it was stuck on one screen- This.

If it makes any difference, it usually happens when I'm playing or watching videos - mind you, thats what I mostly do on the PC though so.
