Please keep any "consoles suck" or "Cod sucks" out the thread please.

With the rumour that Re-spawn's Titan is NextBox exclusive and them almost certainly moneyhating the first NextGen COD , things are looking decent on the shooter front on consoles early doors.

Another year, another CoD.

Still, when it comes to FPS single player campaigns, CoD's are amongst the best.
I read that they are ramping up the graphics for a change though. Most likely they are upgrading from the Unreal engine 3 to the new Unreal engine 4.

i wish there was a new cod like cod4....
well that's not gonna happen. i heard they switched engines? then the movement will be crap now as well :(

Actually the netcod of all cod games is based on a quake engine from 2000. Imagine, 13 years old now.. i dont wonder why the laag is always bad in cod.

the quake engine is quite amazing. also in q3 or QL which both use the idtech3 engine you don't have any hitreg fails.
never drop the idtech3 engine! best engine that ever existed!

Might be true, i didnt play any quake game. The only thing i can say that EVERY SINGLE COD player complains about laag and hit reg, including myself. not that i have played a lot of cod and experienced that but the few free weekends on steam were pretty laagy for me.

I guess those free weekends were usually mw2 or newer and those games unfortunately use listen servers, i.e. one of the players is the server. That usually is the reason for failing hitreg, it's not really the engine's fault.
On the contrary a pretty new engine, frostbite 1.5/2 runs on dedicated servers and still does as bad of a job as cod's listen servers, quite pathetic, because idtech3 does an excellent job on dedicated servers. Cant complain in cod4 or quake.

Crap trailer tbh... just another cod game really. Trailer felt like,
"hey look at all these people in make up and shit"
"this guy has make up on his balaclava so it's relevent"
"oh gameplay? no sorry."
"Give us your money now please."

Sorry but the cod series just doesn't hold any weight with me anymore.

They milked the tit for to long ,it just caught up with them while DICE were taking there time on making frostbite.

But saying that it will still be big on consoles lets face it ,and that's were the market is right now even more now with the next gen consoles coming out.

Is this the time DICE give them a run for there money seen as 64 players is now possible on console ?

don't give any props to DICE, they are doing the exact same thing.

They better rain that crap in with BF4... ( i doubt it ) The issue is they've used all this proprietary tech in Frostbite which they have to pay to license out. So the 'dumb' modders can't have it. Which coming from a company BUILT from modding community members when all said and done. is utterly, completely, inexcusible .

who the f*ck do they think they are to call modders too stupid to understand their engine, that's just a cheap excuse to justify the DLC flooding.
Even without mod tools the game gets modded, just take a look at Rome or Venice (code names for modded versions of BC2 and BF3, just google for it, it's quite popular. both modded by NoFate).
but chances they will change back to what they used to be are pretty close to 0, not as long as EA holds the gun to their head.

Saw this so called Trailer yesterday and it has just proved how much they are going to favour the next Xbox again like, they have done with all Call Of Duty games since Call Of Duty World At War.

I do like Call Of Duty games to the point where I have them all, and all the DLC's for them and I usually play it on a daily basis but lately it's been getting, to the point where I just struggle to bring myself to play it.

For me I never had a problem with LAG in any of the Call Of Duty games, including Modern Warfare 2 & 3 mainly because older games were ran on Dedicated Servers which had enough bandwidth allocated, to the server within the Data Center and also the servers were not being ran on overloaded boxes, MW2/3 I was 99% of the times the host and no one complained of lag when I was the host however whenever I wasn't, the host I got lag.

Black Op's 1 on the PC made things abit better since they actually used proper Dedicated Servers and included, a server browser but Gameservers.com just could not provide a decent experience when the server had 18 players on it as they nearly always crashed, which was eventually fixed to the point where I got my server for free for 4 months :)

With Black Op's 2 though there is no server browser, apparently there are dedicated servers but Treyarch will not issue a list to say what countries they are based, in and how many they have in each country etc.

It has poor Lag Comp implemented in to it, so that if you have a ping of 40ms and the person you are shooting at has a ping of 100ms+ then you will, struggle to hit or kill them.

I have never once received a ping of less than 40ms in BO 2 however in BF3 I always have a ping of 20ms or less, and BF3 is far more bandwidth demanding that BO2.

There are so many issues with BO2 that even going back to MW3 is like going from MW2 to COD 4, MW3 is so smooth and issue free other than the cheaters compared to BO 2.

With COD Ghosts I am hoping that they take the servers back to how they were in Call Of Duty 4.

Apparently it's potentially going to be using the new Engine Activision has but even that engine whilst looking good won't, be used on the PC properly because they will still have to develop the game for the lowest spec platform which is still, going to be either the PS4 or Xbox.
The main thing is though that, Activision know they have no competition game wise that will hurt the sales of the Call Of Duty games because there, is nothing on the market currently that offers the same experience to the players.

Dice tried to compete with Call Of Duty with the 2 Medal Of Honour reboots, but they failed because whilst the 1st reboot had decent graphics the movements were clunky and had issues.

The 2nd one had issues as well with poor graphics, sound and other things such as the hit reg etc so that failed again to compete with COD.
The only time I can see COD having any competition is if a company remakes MOH properly, as in how it was back in the old days or someone makes a different game that is as good as COD 2/4/5 but with updated graphics and sound etc.

I will hold of judging this game though until I see more videos etc to see what it looks like and I just hope they decide, to release a beta for it so people can try it first rather than buying it and then not liking it and being stuck with it, like they are now with all of the latest ones being linked to Steam and I can only hope that they don't make you choose to either use Steam or not play the game, as I really want to get rid of Steam of my pc but because I want to play COD games I have got to use Steam.

All I do know though is that this year will be interesting with the 1st next gen COD game and Battlefield 4 as well as possibly, Respawns 1st game which has not been confirmed yet if it will or will not be a Xbox Exclusive.

1) we both know that is never going to happen :(
2) respawn entertainment will be published by EA, so that will be shit as well.

meh!

COD4 was the best, modern warfare 2 was ok, blackops was poo...black ops 2 was okish

i wont be bothering with COD anymore, BF i think is where its at

I don't think they will either but who knows they may suprise us.

For me the publisher makes no difference as to how the game is, it's down to the developers to make the game work which hopefully Respawn actually do properly.

I have had no issues with EA in terms of them as a company EA actually helped when I had a issue and when it could not be fixed they refunded the game and let me keep it on Origin, they also added Crysis to my Origin account when I got the game for free when I bought a graphics card, and the cd got damaged and I said I couldn't find a working copy to download from anywhere.

2 Good 'support' examples doesn't excuse EA's other behaviour on the whole mate. They are a bad, bad company. They push the games they're publishing for early release to try and cash in sooner and ultimately the games suffer. As much as DICE claim to have free reign, that's total rubbish. Only being said to try and shut people up.
