Well, i just took the long drive to the citylink depot to collect a parcel that they have tried to delivery for the last 2 days. (they say they couldnt find the property, pfffffffft).

So we (was my little step brothers laptop we were picking up) got there and handed the bit of paper with his ID in. The bloke wondered off into the back, Came out with a box, little step brothers face lit up. Signed, picked it up and started to walk out, but stopped and gave me the box. I held it and guess what...........it was empty!

Someone had stolen it :(

This is the 2nd time something like this has happened with city link. they really annoy me!

EDIT: i also seen another chappy picking up a parcel that looked really like XMS......

That woulda been me thieving your g00dz :p

Seriously tho, sorry to hear that mate. It sucks when it happens as nobody seems to care that some bastid has stolen your stuff :(

Might be asuggestion for citylink to use tamper proof seals, or cable ties, they do not cost that much, but then again neither does insurance.

Kind of makes me suspicous about the delivery guy, surely stuff has been delivered before?

i dont know, it was being delivered to his dads work place. City link said they couldny find the place so we would have to pick it up. It was just branded clear tape that was used to seal the box. The chicken plucker sliced the tape cleanly and then carefully resealed with some more clean tape.

It all smells a bit doesn`t it, "couldn`t find the place".

I mean as far as u`r concerned, u immediately inform them it`s empty - and u eventually get the goods, probably including another w8ing session for paperwork, and u get the stuff in the end. I think we`ve all experienced these painful delay days.

But wtEf kind of operation are they running, I have no doubt there`s some teeving going on in their depot or something. I`d have half a mind to report the whole incident to the authorities, we`re not talking about a parcel of biscuits here and post is post. To the uninformed, "a laptop" could be worth anything from £400 to £1500.

Frag`ll tell u how seriously tampering with mail should be handled.

On a similar note, the Amtrekies delivered a parcel of mine to my neighbors today "cos they didn`t get an answer" - I`m off work this week btw. My gate is busted atm, and if u move the sucker it makes one hell of a noise, doubt the dog would miss that. Can`t have been scared of the dog cos my neighbors got a big arse horse-dog thing!

Good job my neighors are honest aye.

Some1 needs to shake the system up tbh.

Well I have to say CityLink are good with my work, but then it is one of the biggest and most well-known buildings in the City. Amtrack just plain suck as do a couple of other couriers.

DHL picked a parcel up from me today and they're usually ok. UPS are by far the best and most professional, but you pay through the nose for them.

Soz to hear that mate - sucks when it's disappointing a lil kid! :(

Couldn't agree more. I have no idea how Amtrack manage to survive. A parcel delivery company that can't even manage to deliver parcels.

Well once I got an Amtrack courier who called and said "I have some parcels for you". "Funny" I thought, "I should only have one"

It turned out that they'd broken the box holding the parcel then the two parts of the item in question had been put in two separate boxes, which were also almost broken totally too.

Needless to say I told him to send it back and laughed in his face when he asked why  :D

n00bs tbh

I would be gutted and blow my nut if that happend to me!

I have found amtrack to be very good in my area

Oh and I agree with Kempez on UPS they are by far the best:worship:

Where I used to run a warehouse, we would have deliveries every day from a firm I can`t remember the name of atm - only thing I can remember is their green vans had "big green parcel machine" on the back.

Anywho EVERY day the dood would come along, now u have to understand he doesn`t load it, and the product I would have would be like a rug or something - his boxes on the back looked lit`rally like they were thrown on, on top of each other, nothing spared in terms of what is heavier than others.

There`d be 8' long boxes, bent - with a stack of 10 heavy monitor sized items, strewn all over the place - a boxed up heavy sack-truck, or similar, on top of them - and somewhere underneath would be a rug. Now it`d take the guy 5-10mins to actually dig the item out, I`d usually have to point out to him what it was. He`d pull an empty pallet to one side, it`s old contents at the front of the van or something. -- The rug would be fine, they`re kinda hard to damage, u`d probably have to want to damage it to do so.

There`d be TVs, monitors - u`d think wtEf!

This is everyday, without exception. I bet if I went there today and caught him, it`d look the same.

Now in my mind, at the time as a store manager with my own guyz, I`m thinking how the hell does their store manager let the van leave the place.

Replace the rug with anything pc related and who knows what condition it`d be in.

It`s kinda funny coz their sprinter-type vans that generally carry small goods, are pretty decent. The ones I`d see mostly were like a bedford roller-shutter type thing.

Urrghh glad I`m out of it tbh.

City link are known as sh1tty link in our household. I was due to get some stuff delivered by them, when it didn't appear in the pre-arranged time window I phoned them and was assured that it would be with me the next day  then, when it didn't appear the next day  I phoned and was told that they had a stand in delivery driver on duty for the area I was in and they couldn't find the place, then the person on the phone readily admitted that they probably hadn't tried very hard

I got my carriage fee refunded but no apology or owt

Never use 'em!

Having to understand that when u run a stores, about 6 couriers come to u everyday with stuff - u generally get a feel for what they`re like.

UPS I have to say are helped very much by their vans. They seem to have an organized inside to them that smells of experience in parcel carriage. Smarter uniforms, as uniforms go. And I`m pretty sure if I wanted a CD sent to Siberia by 2morrow they could do it, it`d cost obviously.

The drivers seemed happier too.

hmmm. I wonder if they charge more than £60/£70 to take a parcel from Cardiff to Tx within 2/3 weeks.

When I was in the shipping industry I saw a lot of this sort of thing first-hand.

For our customers out of my location anything valued at $1000+ we would use tamper-proof tape to help stop the internal theft at UPS after it left our hands. I know my employees were honest and they would never think about stealing anything. It's the actual UPS employees (drivers & sorters) at the distribution centers that thieve the goods, and trust me it happens frequently.

It's VERY hard to track down the individuals stealing the goods, but when they are caught they get their arse handed to em on a silver platter. That's no joke. I've seen UPS drivers land in jail after getting caught stealing parcels....

I hate thieves with a passion and unfortunately the shipping industry is rampant with them, and really nothing can be done to stop it unfortunately. :(

Sorry to hear u got jacked nathan, tiz some crap.

Edit: And just to concur with others, UPS's international service is by far the best. It's also by far the most expensive. But if it really has to get their quick, UPS it. I sent a pair of Xeons to Jimbo via UPS and it was 1 or 2 day delivery, customs jacked him for another $100 though, bastids!

think im gonna send myself in a parcel with a shot gun, lets see them peek inside the box this time, muahahahahah!
