Chuckle away :P

I though i'd post a pic of my rig. Not a bad rig at all, but a bit on the messy side.

I'm not going to do anything to it as I'm working on a new case at the moment.
It's gonna be PORN! But until then... Chuckle away haha.

Chris.

Is the rat's nest included

Sorry mate only joshing :D

At first I quite liked those acrylic cases. Then you have to fit the PSU and it all goes a bit Pete Tong. There's no way of hiding the wires or any cable management.

Time for a new case perhaps?

Haha cheers mate.

The clear case i bought when i built like my second ever PC.
Looks cool when your 12 :P

The CPU will be getting the H100i treatment when i finish my case.

Whats wrong with the PSU? It's the first one i've owned that cost more than £20 haha. Genuinely intrigued to learn whats wrong with the PSU though.

Mate i posted this so people could have a laugh. No worries.

Im working on a case at the moment, when it's completed i'll post pic :)

O really? Thats good then haha
I thought maybe it was a shit PSU. I did watch a review that said it was a decent one before i bough it.

not a fan of those acrylic cases, a friend of mine has one as well. just looks so messy.

Nah, neither am i lol

But i am going to reuse this case for my server once i finish making my new case. I'll make a new front panel and HDD rack, use a hole saw to make room for some 120's and she should be grand.

I'll be sure to post a thread when i do that.

These acrylic cases were pricey back in the day (like 10 years ago).

i currently have 2 unused cases laying around and a third will be added when i get my new cpu/mobo/ram/case :D i will then have enough stuff laying around for a decent mid range PC, will probably sell it. need the money for some watercooling.
thought about setting up a server, but because i am a student and not 18 yet i live with my mother and she gets furious about the electricity bills i am producing, she would probably put me on the street if i would run a server as well lol.

Not that specific psu, just OCZ psu's in general, they have horrible failure rates.

Generally you just need to read reviews and make sure you're getting a SIRFA unit.

You can read more about them here :)

SIRFA AKA Highpower USA make some of OCZ's models and, they are genuinely pretty good.

It is a bit of a minefield though, as they are dotted around OCZ's range rather sparsely.

For example the OCZ Fatal1ty power supplies... The 550w model was SIRFA. The 700w model was utter garbage yet the 750w model was SIRFA and an amazing PSU.

Novatech (UK retailer) have a range of power supplies called Powerstations and they are basically unbranded SIRFA OEM units.

You can usually spot a SIRFA (or Highpower) unit by the flat modular cables..

You may recall there was a guy with a GPU issue last week and he was running one of the Novatech units?

Yeah i'd like to do some water cooling at some point but i cant justify the money involved to do it well. For now I'm just gonna get a H100i, which is more than good enough for what i want. But a proper loop looks balla as fuck.

Haha yeah. My parents were surprisingly cool with me running a server, but then they benefit from it too.

So whats my one? lol
I have the 700W version of this...

Haha, I remember the days of transparent acrylic cases. Gets me all nostalgic
for the old days. They're like the PC equivalent of 80's fashion and hair styles

Yeah I know that story. Although my dad was pretty chill about it for a long time
(he profited from my server as well, after all), when I chucked in a 2600k and
started to run F@H 24/7 he did look a bit flustered when he got the power bill.
Eventually I bought a power meter, measured how much power my machine
consumed at full tilt (~300 W) and told him I'd pay my part of the bill myself.

I am not necessarily looking forward to the bills my SR-2 and the Titan will
produce :o

A proper loop really is something awesome. But if you look at it pragmatically
from a cost/benefit aspect, the cost for a full custom loop can't really be
justified in most cases. Except of course when you factor in the fun part :)
But purely from a performance point of view it's rarely needed imho, unless
you want a really silent rig that still has some decent overclocks on it.
