[UPDATED] Christmas Rig / First Build

Hey guys, a friend told me to jump over here if I ever needed advice on my planned build, and seeing as it's nearly boxing day I'm getting ready to purchase stuff.

This build will be my first ever custom build, and although I have a reasonable knowledge I'm not 100% sure on everything, including if the parts will fit in the case etc, and it's always good to have a second opinion. If you guys could recommend ways to also save money that would also be appreciated, as I'm always looking for the best performance at the lowest price. I plan to Overclock the CPU and the GPU as far as I can get them.

Everything can be found here; http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/tLr0
except the PSU has been changed to the one listed below.
If you can't access the link I'll type everything up:

GPU - MSI Twin Frozr 3GD5 V2/OC Radeon HD 7950 AMD Graphics Card - 3GB
CPU - Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4Gig) DDR3-1866 Memory
HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
SSD - Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Case - Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU - 750W Seasonic M12II-750 80PLUS Bronze Modular Power Supply
Optics - Internal Samsung Sata High Speed DVD Writer SH-222 Quick Automatic Detection

Thanks in advance, Reasoner.

Looks Good to me. If you wanted to save money you could go with a smaller PSU. Also you could go with 1600mhz ram as you would see no real world difference.

This looks like a very solid build mate. Perhaps a better CPU cooler and maybe check out the msi mpower motherboard if it's in a similar price range but overall very solid build you should have no problems with that at all!

Hey I'm the one who recommended him to come here. The reason for the PSU is because he said he probably wants to run 7950 crossfire in the future, so it's just a bit of future proofing.

I'd have to agree. 750watts seems to be the sweet spot for being SLI ready with gpu's becoming more power efficient etc.

Thanks for the super quick feedback, really appreciate it. I'll check out the RAM. Praying that some of the prices will come down after Christmas, but who knows.

Had a look on scan and the 1600mhz is priced the same as the 1866mhz at the moment. So stick with the 1866mhz

Looks good to me man, im interested to see what your build looks like when its finished! Do you mind posting some pictures when you're done?

Of course man, of course! The community seems really awesome here, so I'll definitely stick around and post some updates!

Welcome to the forums.

Looks like a pretty good plan mate, but I would go for the Corsair H100/H100i liquid cooler. Your oc wont get very far on air.

Yeah, Ivy's can get really hot and you have to think more than once about better cooling solutions for the CPU... if you're an OC Enthusiast. If not... air cool will be just fine. :)

H100 isn't 'supported' by that case though.

I did recommend a NZXT Havik 140/NH-D14/Dark Rock PRO 2 as I don't think that cooler is good enough.

The cost is the problem, unfortunately I literally don't have another £30-£50 to throw in.

He can always go for the H80i. It's better than air and he said he wants to OC as far as it will go, which wont be far on air.

As far as cost goes, build as much as you can then get extras like liquid cooling later when you can afford it. Just dont do super hard OC's in the meantime ;)
