Case Discussion - Antec 1200

Hi all

I currently own an Antec 1200 since March '11 and I know its been out for a long while now but as far as I can see there doesn't seem to be much discussion about it.

I do like this case a lot apart from the cable management options.

I was just wondering, if you had a choice between this case and any other case on the market of similar price. Which one you would choose and why?

ive owned a few antec cases and were all horrific so i would steer clear my no1 case choice atm is the corsair 650D but its expensive but its a top notch product

there cable management is terrible on the 900 300 has none 200 is just cheap tat, i think the build quality sucks, the plastic seem soft and scratch very easily the fans are quite crap

I own 5 Antec cases. Both the P180 & the 900 are good quality cases but the cable management was rubbish. The white 600T would be a contender, just look at how clean you could make it look.

The Antec 1200 is a good quality case, but it's just not for me. You don't see too many high end cases now that have the HDD drives facing into the case.

Yeah I agree about the cable management, I am tempted to change the fans because of blue leds dont really know much of their performance, maybe I should look it up

Wow that does look very clean and I might see if I can cut a few holes for some better management, not too sure though yet. I wish the HDDs faced sideways

If you are using ssd's you could try and mount them behind the motherboard tray. SilverStone do it on their Raven 3.

I wish the HDDs faced sideways

I wish not actually. If they did, they should not be under the 'Hundred' series. The Hundred series are one of the last few full 5.25" front cases. But the thing that bugs me is the lack of length on the motherboard tray, especially with drive cables stick out awfully close to the edge on ATX mobos or long graphics cards. If only Antec's upgrades extended beyond cutting holes and adding USB 3.0.

Now I got thinking, if I'm going to spend $600 on a RAID card, then more on hot-swap backplanes and HDDs; I think I might pencil in a sexy Lian Li porn instead of a Antec 'Hundred' or Xigmatek for NAS build.

I don't mind the cable managing to much it's more the 4 side panel screws. 8 screws holding in the he'd rack to remove and replace just to clean a air filter. Was really bad. I got a antic df-85 now but it's the only antec case I really like. I don't mind the antic 300 mainly because the cooling and fans it comes with stock for cheap. My next case is going to bE a fractal design.

I think the R3 case takes more than a couple of design ideas from the Antec P180.

Nice very elegant matx chassis, just has everything in the right place. Be interesting to see what price it retails at.

I live in Australia and a store here has it for sale at $149AU with a ETA of the 25th of June 2011.

Seems it will be awesome Ill put the ROG mini ATX maximus gene 4 in it

, Only thing I want to change is put a second exhaust fan in the roof so maybe a 240mm rad would fit in.

I've just took the four screws out the back-side out and just used the four on the other, seems to be fine and saves time. I'm definitely going to look around more when I buy my next case.
