Car photos/discussion thread

I have a thing for estate/wagons. I like the Nissan Stagea.

Stages is actually something on my list to get if im honest, you can pick them up very cheaply now

I would R34 the front end as a first mod, thats how i like them :D

Yeah they're pretty much a Skyline estate...

I'm a huge fan of estates as I said. Many years ago some guy I knew had a Ford Granada estate with a Chevy big block in it. In the back it had 4 x Cerwin Vega 18s. He spent about £15k on the sound system and in all honesty it's one of the most magnificent wastes of money I have ever seen. It was literally painful being in there with the stereo on lol.

my god i remember those days! if you ever come accross any pictures of it post them im curious to see what it looked like

I don't have any pics of the car or the install no :( Wish I did !

I've had pretty much every Cerwin Vega woofer (until they were taken over by Stanton in the early 2000s) though. Used to run a 18" Stroker at 1ohm with a Soundmaster VZ kicking out about 2000w.

Been car shopping today. I've got a hard decision to make this evening!
See if you can guess the two cars I've narrowed myself down to. enjoy some spectacular blurry photos from my temp phone while you're at it

car option 2- less fast and furious:

Im probably going for an E92 3 series as my next car im probably going to wait for my 2 years ncb, surprisingly a 320d is only ~£100 more than my fiat will be for insurance.

NOO NOT AN ALFA...

but tbf everything is better than your corsa lol
The alfa has done 50k miles and is so comfortable!. It's also probably the more reliable of the two cars. Its so italian though! For example, in order to get to the fuel cap you have to pull a string that is located in the boot. In order to get into the boot you have to press a button on the dashboard.

300zx or 3 series coupe

300zx N/A with a nice exhaust. Cambelt will need to be done (not a cheap job as it involves taking the engine out) but the body is really solid. Cheap too. Insurance is cheaper because it might just possibly be an automatic  . If I can find a place that'll do the engine work (as the alternator will need replacing as well as they're really junky apparently) that'll need doing I'll be getting it. Its a shame the engine needs removing to do any work but the noise will be worth it.

Dude, the alfa is the best choice here, a jap car for a daily is no no lol!!!!!!!!

Ok you dont need to take the engine out, you can move it enough on the mounts to do it, but any jap car work go see my friend Dan at http://dcautosuk.com/ He will look after you so much you wont wanna leave lol! And he drifts like he stole it!

Not a daily! I don't have a parking spot at work so I cycle instead. if I get a job that isn't within cycling distance then I'll have to be sensible.

The corsa, while it is the ultimate in hooning technology, is nearly out of tax and insurance. I've been shopping around for over a year now ! :D

-edit- thanks for the link, I'll use him if I get the Nissan

Gonna be honest just take this advice, im not saying dont buy a jap car, im saying make sure you always have £3000 in the bank saved up, they're not cheap when they break and with drift tax on anything jap atm getting bits is silly money, im more than happy to come with you to view some cars make sure you get your monies worth.

But you're a clever cookie....

cheers for the offer man! Yeah, I gathered I'd have to always have a chunk saved for such things. The ZX is gonna be a bit of a project tbh and it wouldn't be a true barnsley-mobile unless it was a bit of a hooptie..

I'v got a list of things that need work on it but mostly mechanically (and body wise) its super sound. Doesn't have the top leaking issue either!

Does the boot leak? What about subframe mounts are they rotten? Jacking points? I know they have 2 piece sills are they still there? coz im sure you know you cannot ever jack a jap car from the sides! either diff on the rear or the mount on the front, you said it was the auto box, is the cooling element still there if so it isnt rotten is it? Does the diff whine at all, even the slightest? Is it the later model with the TC or early without it?

Its an early model Jap import with very little rust. Imported in 2001 and has only really been driven 5000 miles since then. it is an n/a with the potentially dodgy early engine/early autobox combo but it runs fine with decent oil pressure. The previous owner replaced pretty much every belt except the cambelt (although he might have done that). The only leak I can find is with the left targa top (but it comes with a spare).

Issues that I could find:
-ABS light is on but the ABS feels like it still works as far as I can see
-stereo doesn't work (junky aftermarket alpine system)- the clock does though so its not likely a fuse box
-cambelt almost certainly needs a replacement
-I want to replace the alternator as they are the biggest weakpoint on those cars and the owners club suggest -replacing them after 50k miles
-the back plastic light cluster is cracked slightly
-the spoiler needs replacing as its got the typical 'plant' problem- not rusted the metal yet as far as I can tell though.
-front brakes need a bit of work- namely new front pads before the next MOT
[/LIST]
Its also got plenty of good bits. Its not an AAA condition car but its quite solid.

Toyota are going to be making a Miata competitor. Its called the SFR and has 130hp. Looks like it is Japan only so far but hopefully they'll sell them overhere too.

I actually really like it. Always had a soft spot for Miatas since NFSU (the first one) and have always had a passion for small two door coupes too.

I'm not quite sold on the front end though, kinda looks like a Mini with its mouth wide open. I like the back though, kinda has RX8 lines to it. Spoiler would be promptly removed though.
