Car photos/discussion thread

Our Audi has now a 3.0L 255PS engine instead of the standard 232PS only through chiptuning and a optimized downpipe, not really an engine mod but I havent been stopped by my insurance when I told them what I planned

maybe theyve got more relaxed recently, good to know! they hated us so bad there!

I think my insurance guy just didnt know hat I actually did, chpituning is officially allowed but the downpipe was tricky I thought but I was wrong :D
When i had my amarok I had a serious problem with them because I changed the turbo, downpipe, wrote together with my mechanic a custom chip profile fitting to the new config and after all that the clutch died in the middle of a city causing a massive blockage until my car got towed away. 4WD is appearantly a pain to tow away if the difflock is on  the next year I had to pay about 2,3K on top of my normal insurance because of that.

It also makes little sense. It was cheaper by £1k for my bro to get an Audi A4 1.8 than a 1.6 Golf.
Its cheaper for me to get a 2 litre Jaguar X type Diesel (this) then a 1.8 Golf GTI insurance wise. I'm nearly 20 and I've been driving since I was 17.

Increase in value of the car has little effect on the insurance cost for young drivers, it's not quite as logical as it seems and better cars aren't more to insure, it's more dependant on how likely you are to crash it. And paying off the person you crashed into is far more costly than repairing your little pile of crud.

If your looking at small cars Shaun get some quotes on similar model diesels, they tend to let you have a larger displacement and a turbo without raping you for it. Back when I was little it was cheaper to insure a 1.5DCi Clio than a 1.0/1.2 petrol for my friends. While they were both pretty dismal cars the diesel would at least do a more convincing burnout and a ton when you found a straight long enough. Cheaper tax and fuel bills too. It might not hold true now diesels are getting more popular in small cars but thats what I would do. Just thought I would mention.

well another difference between germany and britain, diesel cars here are more expensive tax wise.

Diesel small cars tend to be in better condition second hand as well.

Mine is almost mint. :D

You know how you were saying about price not being different depending on your gender Kambo? Isn't that only recently though. I swear as well that every girl I know, their insurance is cheaper than us males. For us males round here they start at around £2200.

I need to try and get a second car key cut this weekend. Need the electrics in it too, Dad and boss have mentioned a place that even cut his Ferrari keys, if they can cut a Ferrari key they can cut my Peugeot. :)

Need some allow cleaner, and steering fluid too.

But the females get cheaper insurance? Its like males are worse, or drive like idiots at a young age.

Probably, not so much my specific area but as a whole...errr..ish. But Liverpool and Manchester are higher. Southport is a quieter seaside town.

I'm currently waiting for my Licence to come back, I take it I would need to notify the insurance that I will have 9 points on my licence and expect my premium to go up?

9 points?? What did you do?

Yeah you'll have to tell them, it won't go up if it's a SP50 or something along those lines
