so today its been a hard day my grandad passed away at 5pm from prostrate cancer and it totally sucks just thot i would come on here try and see what kinda of experience other members have had with cancer its now taken 3 of 4 of my grandparents and it seems like no one can get away from it these days

sorry to put such a serious note on this just needed to let out a but of steam

Hey sorry to hear about your grandpa, hope you and the rest of your family are well through tough times.

yeah all is not bad mate considering whats just happened, he only got diagnosed with it in june last year and initial results showed it wasnt that bad he was gettin hormone tablets and injections and he got that up until about 7 weeks ago they said we want to do radiotherapy so he got took in 2 hospital for 2 weeks got out on the friday but was back in in major pain by the tuesday in a pallitive care hospital and never left and just got worse and worse till he died today, we got told 13 days ago he might only have a few days so at least he held on a bit and fought his hardest

Sounds like he fought and didn't give up like so many others do.It's always tough too when a diagnosis kind of comes outta nowhere. Hopefully the cancer leaves the rest of you alone.

yeah like u wouldnt believe mate and he never moaned once about it, he would also go look @ this person wakin everyone up with his/her moanin when he never asked for anything he would wit till a nurse asked him if he needed something, yeah i hope it doesnt affect anyone else in my family he was 81 so he had a very long life and will be very missed but its selfish to want to keep him about when he is ill just for our sakes

I hope I'm able to be headstrong if I'm ever in that position,I wouldn't want my families last memories of me to be of me pissin and maonin about everything. You and your family will have a lot of great things to remember about this tough old guy it sounds like.

yeah he was tough as nails the pain tolerance he had was unbelievable but he went from being completely independent to being housebound in a matter of a week and he wasnt able to get out much after that so i would be there everyday to get his shopping and make his tea i got pretty good at cookin in the process!

Aww man sorry to hear that :(. My grandad went into hospital for some routine (something) and the next day he was found dead in his bed:(. He was fit and healthy, not health problems, and after that my dad doesn't like going to hospitals.

We're here for you if you need us, keep chin up and think the pain is over for him, and now he can eat all the tatties he wants;).

that must have been a shock it being that sudden

least we have had like the best part of 9 months to prepare for this not that it makes it any easier but its u know what to expect he's had his fair bit wrong with him, the cancer had to have a triple bypass hip replacement and angina (or how u spell it) and had something wrong with his lungs from when he was was working with banned stuff when he was serving his time in the trades and pollups in his stomach and there was a lot more but u would think with all that he wouldnt have been well at all but until about this time last year he was 100% independent not many ppl at 80 could say the same so he's had a good life

but thanks for the kind words mate it helps with someone thats not family cause u are all thinkin the same and there isnt much u can say 2 each other
