Can it be run??? Asus P6X58e WS and 2/3 radeon r9 290x

Quick question would it be possible to run 2 maybe 3 Radeon R9 290x GPUs on a Asus P6X58e ws moterboard I got one very cheap with a xeon x5690?

I have a Corsair ax 1200W PSU

I have seen some sites saying that one card is compatible. I am just asking because of the x58 chip that isn't made for the new gpus the moust thay recomand on a X58 is nvidia 600.

I'm sure that would be ok really. I mean ideally, you will most likely get more benefit from your money from just upgrading the rest of the rig anyway, instead of buying 3 graphics cards, buy 2 and other stuff, but who knows :V
