Ivy Bridge or Haswell?

Hey guys, I ordered the MSI Z77 MPower and i7 3770K and I'm most likely making the payment next week.
But before I buy I read that Haswell is coming out next year...
At the moment I'm using my parents i5 laptop, great for school work, internet etc... but I can not play games on it. I'm starting the HSC next year so gaming isn't that important at all which means I'm willing to wait for haswell but I need more information about haswell.
Is it gaming/overclocking oriented? Will there be an extreme edition? How much better than 1155 is it? Is it worth waiting for?
I tried to find information about it on Google but there was very little :(
If I want to replace my dead motherboard where can I buy cheap 1366 motherboard? I think I should try to fix my computer with about $200 until haswell come out.

Hate Intel
Apparently haswell is designed mainly for "mobile computing"
Is that true? Does that mean it is not better than an Ivy Bridge?
I'm really confused, If I find a cheap 1366 board I'll buy it and fix my system.
Wish all motherboards were future proof/universally compatible :(

Ok, I'll buy one, I think my 970 is faster than an Ivy Bridge, or at least has more cores.
What's the best 1366 motherboard for about $200?
The problem is that my CPU might be severely damaged. Before my motherboard dies my system used to restart every 10 minutes and the error code indicated a thermal problem with the CPU but the CPU wasn't OC'ed so I think my CPU might be dead too that's why I was going to buy a whole new system.

I just get a cheap Asus,MSI or Gigabyte board and then upgrade to haswell, yes there will be desktop chips too, it's german but look at the images: http://www.computerbase.de/news/2012-07/weitere-details-zu-haswell-chipsaetzen-aufgetaucht/
computerbase is usually well informed

no problem what's wrong with you cpu, can you test it in a mates rig?

My mates all have apple laptops or any crappy mainstream stuff...
I might take it to a repair shop to test it.
I'm sure that my GPU works, Case, cooling etc works so I'll get cheap ram, optical drive, motherboard and a 60GB SSD. If the CPU doesn't work I'll use my laptop and get haswell next year.
I found a Sabertooth X58 Manufacturer refurbished for $100, do you think I should get it?
Should cost me about $170 in total to fix it.

You only need an i5 for gaming. Games just won't make use of the hyper threads. To be honest I'd keep your 970 until at least haswell. It's fine for the moment.

I'll take it to a shop to see if it works, if it does, I'll get a cheap X58 motherboard and keep it until haswell.
