well where to start......this started as a bulldozer build. had a sabertooth 990fx , some mushkin radioactive... and a cppl 6970's... well along came the fx8150 reviews and out went the bulldozer build... to be honest the phenom II 975 be prolly would have been enough for quite some time,,, but i really wanted to go sandy bridge....so here is what im going with.....

ps....dont mind the mess.....im not the tidiest person around!!!

That looks awesome, if you can, spray the PSU blue as well that will make it look even better

just to set the record straight........

the H60 was NOT my weapon of choice!!! notice the Zalman CNPS11X that i had painted some blue accents on (the "X" and the stability bar)....

but damnit all if it didn't fit past the vrm heat sinks on the motherboard!!!!!

im not sure what im going to do on a more permanint basis but it WONT be the H60

**********UPDATE*****************

wtf........i got this H60 at bestbuy as a stop-gap measure just to get my rig up and running......i've never liked the "looks" of a noctua but am well aware of its cooling capabilities.....so i was internet window shoping considering this and that...when i realised i hadn't actually tested out my H60.........

now granted this isn't stock......im using two Zalman 120mm Shark Fin fans instead of the one corsair fan,,, and also helping it along is the fact that the rad is at the top of a SilverStone Raven 02 case.....

but here is my screen shot......

ambient temps @ 18c

and this is the THIRD 15 min run of burnintest.....cpu@100% and also ram @ 100% (figuring the mem controller adds some heat)

cold.png

well aint that some shit???

a 19.5 delta???

and thats on the MAXIMUMs not the currents!!! if i go by the average of the current temps its a 12.75 delta......

thats frikin nuts.....am i to assume that this corsair is just more efficiant at lower ambient temps??? (than other coolers)

If anything, get prime95, take idle and load temps. Run the large FFT test for about 30-60 minutes for the load temperatures. Run the fans and pump on the H60 at 12V. Also, see if you can get a temperature probe in the radiator. If the rad's temperature is higher than the chip's - you have your answer, it's a bad calibration on the sensor. Bare in mind that these things are calibrated for distance from Tjmax reading and programs have no way of establishing what each individual chip's Tjmax is. That's something Intel do at factory level. Have fun!

If the OP has yet to fix his problems after a year, I don't know what to say :)
Be careful about bringing back older threads, dude.
