Building a capable gaming PC

Whats up guys.
Was gonna build a gaming PC a few months ago, but now haswell, 700 series, etc. were released.
I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on my component choice for a high end gaming pc. If you see anything that would be a worthwile change (for the money) ex: "go i7, hyperthreading will be utilized in gaming next gen", try to spend more for this, you might want to wait for this, etc., please tell me.

Case: I have no clue, want full size ATX, can you recommend one that's very cost effective and looks bad-ass?
CPU: Either 4770k or 4670k, which would you go with if it were to be used for 3 years+?
CPU cooler/heatsink: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus (as a hold over until I may go for water cooling)
SSD: Samsung 840 Series 120gb (or would you go for the 128gb Pro version?)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8 GB 2133 1.5v
Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65
PSU: CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W Gold certified
Video Card: EVGA SuperClocked GTX 770 2GB

Thanks.

What are you looking for in a case?
-Side Window
-USB 3.0
-Watercooling support
?

Also, what do you mean by 'bad-ass'? For some people it would mean tacky plastic bits and bops sticking out while for me personally a bad-ass case would be clean looks and brushed alu.

CPU is a tough call and we can't predict the future. If you're insecure you can always get an AMD 8320 or 8350. Don't forget that the Intel architecture is much faster per core, and the fact rhat the console CPUs will only be 1.6GHz.

Definitely get the 840 Pro, it's quicker and according to Samsung also more reliable cause they're 'business end'.

Just an overall quality case, yeah i'm probably going to go for watercooling once i can gather the money for it. Clean looks and brushed aluminum, i hate cheap plastic crap.
I would prefer to stick on Intel purely because of AMD's outdated platform (pci-e 2.0, etc.), nothing against AMD though.

A budget for a case would also be nice to know :p
For a mid tower the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 might be a very good option for you :)

Totally get what you're saying on the Intel vs AMD thing. I guess you could let your wallet decide. Have the money for an i7? Get one. Can't really miss it? Then don't.
The i5 will probably serve you fine the coming 3 years. Heck, even an Intel Pentium dual core (G860) can play games (watch Jackfrags' Steambox video on YouTube).

Do you mean 'regular ATX' or 'full tower'?

Is the regular GD-65 or the GD-65 Gaming? The Gaming series have much better on-board audio and ethernet solutions. There's a review on the homepage :)

The GTX 770 is a great card and seems to be kind of similar to an HD 7970 in terms of performance. I'd go for the 770 though! Is it the stock cooler, EVGA stock cooler or the ACX version?

Great choice for mobo and GPU :)

I'll have a look for you at some cases in the morning. I'm on my phone right now and I don't get home til 2am. Maybe a TJ07 would be good for you, but you'd want to mod it a bit (make the inside black, mainly) and I seriously doubt you can do that for $200.

Doubt you can see the For Sale & Wanted section of this forum yet but I remember someone tried to sell an all black TJ07 not too long ago.

They are newer and better built. Fully modular and 80+ Platinum as well.
Your choice though, the one you picked will serve you fine as well :)

What do you think of the NZXT Switch 810 as my case? The black will fit the color scheme and it received a great review from tom.

The Switch 810 is an amazing case for the money! Has good air- as well as watercooling options. They're a bit plastic-y though.

The Phantom 630 is pretty much a same chassis with a different look. Check it out, you might like it better than the Switch 810 but then again, you might not :p

If you do get the Switch 810, might I recommend the matte black one? The glossy one is a dust and fingerprint magnet.

should i worry about the computer being outdated quickly with ddr4 on the way, etc.? or is now the time to pull the trigger on a new pc considering what i have in my sig?

Tbh, new stuff is coming out all the time and if you keep waiting, you'll... well... keep waiting.forever. DDR4 will only be out on socket 2011 as well and even with DDR3 you won't see any significant performance increase after 2133MHz.

I guess so.

DDR4 is only going to help if you're either running a server on your PC or when you do a LOT of editing/rendering.
