[Build Log] Arrival - White Shinobi XL - Full Loop

I felt the same way. That NVIDIA green on the side helped tie it all together too.

The temps will be well worth it. So long, 70C wall!

Seems like you managed to match the colour perfectly with the new coolant, so it should still look awesome :P Would putting a White led in one of the blanks on the water block decrease the performance, because i think it would look really slick :)

Once I have it all up and running, I am going to play around with green and white LEDs on both waterblocks to see how it looks. Will post pics for input. I think the green is going to end up bleeding the color a bit too much, so I am leaning towards white if I end up using some.

Coming along well. Nice that you're sharing your lows as well as highs with us.

I'm not 100% but I think perhaps the problem with masking the XSPC logo comes because it is diagonal etched so the mask won't penetrate into the grooves too well.

Some liquid latex paint should do the trick. You can get it from modelling shops. Piant it on then peel it off after.

Okay, a few more pics. She is about 98% complete.

Questions:

What do you guys think about the brushed aluminum faceplate on the res? I think it really really clashes with the rest of the build. I'm going to give the liquid latex mask a go on one of the faceplates to see how it goes. If all else fails, I'll just get a custom one fabbed and powdercoat it.

The only issue though is matching the white. When whites are off by even a slight bit, it's really apparent when you see them side by side. We'll see how it goes.

I'll get some pictures when it's a bit darker out of the interior all lit up. Going to put the LEDs in both the GPU and CPU block to see how it looks.

Looks awesome! I agree, I think the res faceplate clashes a lot. If you can get the color and finish on it to match the rest of the front panel, I think that would be best.

Wow, that loop look insane :P How come you have the rear fan intaking?

Colder air for upper rad I think :)
Yup! Also to keep positive pressure in the case.

So I am having a few different face plates made to try out. Going to be AFK from the build for a bit, wife is going into surgery tomorrow so going to have my hands full for about two weeks. Next few things to work on:

-Sleeving the front panel connectors
-Sleeving the top and rear fans, those cables are bugging me
-Getting the new bay res faceplate
-690 backplate - should I get it custom fabbed or wait for an EVGA version?
-Sleeving LEDs for the blocks to test out
-Painting the top/front panel tabs black - the ones you can see through the mesh.

Hope things are OK with your wife.

No worries on the tip re the latex paint, that's what we're here for.

You'll have to lay the green first, allow a long drying time then lay the latex over the green by hand to mask it, then lay the white or black or whatever you want the main colour of the face plate to be, then carefully remove the latex.

Actually I think there are latex solvents out there that will disolve it but I can't think of them at present. Also you'd have to check what paints they were compatable with.

Mod on!

So a little bit of an update. I ditched the 690 and went for three 670 4GB cards instead. I don't know what it is, but the small PCB/blocks is just too fun.

I also replaced all of the fans with White Spectre Pros, and the fittings with Monsoon compression and angle adapters. Some pics of the fittings:

A snapshot before I tore the whole thing down. Looking at it makes me miss it a bit.

With things in such a constant state of flux over the past few months, I thought it best to get my media machine up to snuff to use in the interim.

Specs:

2600K @4.5
ASUS P67 Sabertooth
ASUS DCII 7970
Corsair Force GT 120GB
2xSamsung Spinpoint F3's in RAID0
H60
Seasonic X750
2x4GB Corsair LP RAM
Fractal R4 White
Black Magic Intensity Pro

Ostensibly, I use it for recording gameplay and streaming from my primary gaming rig, as well as editing/rendering/photoshopping. Been nice to have it to fill my Dota 2, Tribes: Ascend, and XCOM cravings over the past month though.

Now for some less quality cell phone pics.

What do we have here?

Why hello there, you sure are pretty. What's that? You brought friends as well?

I don't even know what I'll do with three of you. I only have two hands. Well, one idea, lets see. . .

I think that'll work nicely. Lets you get you ladies in bed.

Still good, but that other one, that Raystorm, I think she needs to go.

Much better. Lets get the rest of you wet.

Leak testing successful, woke up this morning and not a drop anywhere. Can't wait to get home and start some benches. Need to add a bit of Yellow Dye to get the color just right. Will come back with some final pics with the DSLR later.

Doesn't need to. I have it set up that way to blow some cool air on the MOSFET as well as provide some fresh air to the top rad. More than that though, it gives the case positive air pressure.
