[Build Log] Arrival - White Shinobi XL - Full Loop

Very nice, and is that a 600T I see trying to get on camera? ;)
More like trying to get *off* camera. That's what was housing most of my primary gaming rig parts currently.
looking good, i was looking at using this case for my upcomming build instead of the Switch 810, just for something different, will be keeping an eye on this to see how it comes along.
FWIW, I like this a lot more than the Switch. The lack of bright shiny cheap plastic is what sets the Shinobi above the Switch IMO. NZXT's general aesthetic is really hard for me to get behind.

With that said, time for a break with my favorite local spirit.

Looking good, that rad is SO THICK! By the way, nice LARGE pictures, you really need to re-size them using imageshack or similar.

agree with the comment above, this is seriously making me think about using the shinobi XL in my new build!

Thanks a bunch!

Big update coming tonight. Have the rads and motherboard mounted, as well as the 5.25" bay side panel complete. Hopefully I'll have time to mount the 690 waterblock. I think I've put it off because deep down inside I'm slightly fearful of bricking a $1000 card.

Rads installed!

I'm not sure how I feel about the copper screws. I might end up replacing them with either black ones, or maybe even have some powdercoated white. What say you OC3D folks?

With the optical bay cover cut, I painted one side with Rustoleum white to ensure there's no black leaking through on the other side of it.

Applied Di-Noc White Carbon Fiber

Test fit

Everything together

I think you may have convinced me to go with the shinobi over the switch now!
sod it im ordering one now!

Did you look at trying to trim the strengthening bars down in the roof panel that TTL pointed out in his video that were stopping the fans from being mounted under the roof panel to allow yourself a bigger rad in the roof, or is this just not possible?

While it does seem entirely possible, it would weaken the top panel significantly.

Also, you don't really need a much thicker rad than the ST30. One of the things that makes it absolutely ridiculous, is that it throws out the typical 'need high RPM fans for thin rad' dynamic and actually performs better than most thick rads at low RPMs. Even better than the XSPC RX series.

Push/pull on such a thin rad is totally unnecessary as well.

Check out the 1000RPM performance on it. Even at 1400RPM (which is higher than any of my fans will be spinning), it's right there with the RX.

i see what you mean ive got an 240 ut45 in my rig atm just on the processor but even with 1.5v its keeps it cool at low fan speeds

My 580 Lightning Extreme or Sabertooth P67 in my multimedia/secondary rig has been giving me constant headaches. Basically, it randomly decides if it wants to detect a PCI-E issue and simply won't put out an image. Dealing with that was a blockade to posting new pics. Fortunately, here they are now!

First things first, a few glory shots of the incredible air cooler on the 690 before it goes away for good.

I turned on some Boys II Men and Marvin Gaye while I removed the old heat sink. Gotta get her in the mood before taking her clothes off.

Now to install the waterblock!

It is quite lovely, the brushed aluminum finish looks fantastic up close.

The options for fittings are amazing as well. You have 6 different options for inlet/outlets so you don't even need angled adapters.

The thing I wasn't happy with at all was that it comes with cheap looking red washers.

Through the magic of the interwebs, I decided to transform them into some clear nylon washers.

Much much better.

With things settled, time to get the loop up and running for leaks. 12 hours in, nothing yet.

Pardon the bad lighting, the paper towels everywhere made it impossible for me to get decent lighting without massive shadows.
