No Warez talk. These keys are from Microsofts site and have been gotten by "legitimate" means, Microsoft made the mistake. There will, however, be no warez talk on OC3D.

tbh they cannot revoke the keys, it was their mistake and how much money are they going to loose, they over charge us anyway!

I agree but it's their software and like someone said in the small print they have something to use as backup.

We had our fun and rush, I guess it's over:(

The software in which they create costs them BILLIONS, think how much a programmer's salary is per year, think how many people work on the operating system alone.

They obviously gain profit but I respect their hard work, really do.

They can revoke the keys, and do so legally. The subscription was only supposed to be available to those who participated in the market research. As those who have used the links without being a participant of the market research have joined without completing the necessary requirements, the subscription is legally void, as are the keys obtained with the subscription. Just because there is a flaw, it doesn't mean that using it becomes legal.

what happens if you already installed it?

Then you'll prolly get knackered for Windows Updates. But providing you never update and you never intend on reinstalling you have technically got the product for 'free'.

yay :D woo!!

I would have given it a go if I hadn't already had a subscription. Who knows, it may take MS a while to sort it all out:D

It's a bit of a kick in the balls really, I'd quite happily have filled out a few market reserch questionairs for a years free subs there. But due to someone failing at coding, theres a chance we'll all get voided :-/.

Hands up if you put your real email address on the forms btw? I'm just wondering how long it will be before MS gets their lawyers to send out intimidating emails to all that signed up.

Hand up :D.

Was Microsofts site, they messed up it's their fault. Do you leave your car door open and your stereo fell out and blame it on someone else?

You have to use your windows live ID to get in, don't ypu.

You can use friends or even make one up using a proxy :D.

But no one is going to get in trouble, I call this false advertising. I was expecting FREE stuff tbh. I want a refund.

If you come across a car with the doors wide open and the stereo hanging out, it's still theft if you take the stereo.:D

Yes it would be like them to do that

And yes frankly it looks like a 100% legit offer so they've not really got a leg to stand on. Ars Technika could get nailed I suppose...
