Bodybuilding/Powerlifting

jesus christ, I currently have one hell of a pump, its been quite some time since it felt this good :P yesterday I ate very little in the morning due to work and then pigged out in the evening with duck breast and potatoes, so quite healthy stuff (although had some baci cake for desert :))

Training consisted of two sets of 25 reps each of incline bench at 60kg and 5 sets of 8 reps of dumbell curls with 25/32kg...

Managed a few 120kg squats today well below parallel, over 1.5 times my bodyweight, a new best for me.

I'd be laughed at if I ever tried competing, but it's nice to make some progress all the same. :p

Note to self, don't try and and finish a 10K race when you feel your hamstring tear at the 3km mark. Did this Sept. 14th and still not healed. Plus side, put the running on the backburner and started back at the weights again. Its been 8years since Ive done anything steady. 3 weeks back bench went up 40kg in 2 weeks and doubled weight on all arm exercises. Shoulders are holding up and starting to not hurt as bad anymore. Feels good to be able to train without pain (except for legs still obviously).

As of a few days ago I am no longer just a PT but now I'm also a sports nutritionist :)
Took a while but it's worth it and that does not mean people can message me at 2am asking for a full meal plan ^_^

No, but they will bother you in the grocery stores when they find out, and go through your basket looking at what you are buying, that is always my favorite, especially on a cheat day, the look on their faces when they see what I am getting on cheat days, lol.

My cheat days are surprisingly small, I'm talking a box of oreos 4x4 packet and a large glass of low fat milk, That is literally my cheat day ^_^

I'm becoming lazy since I've started bulking, I'm being constantly sleepy at school and missing lectures to go sleep at home, I've dropped from working out 6 times a week to 3 times, I've been stopping in the middle of workouts cause I'm too bored/tired or don't feel like it, I don't really know whats happening :/

It's called slump, Everyone goes through it as enthusiasm starts to lower, You have to push through it :)

Competing isn't about other people, its about beating your last PR. People at meets will encourage you and offer you advices rather than berate you. Admittedly you will get the odd d!ck, but powerlifters are generally humble people. Unlike the majority of people who are into bodybuilding to fuel their superficial ego.

Post a typical days food consumption.

Weighed myself yesterday again. I'm now sitting at 78kg, it's damn hard to believe I was 95kg about 3 years ago. My graduation photos are AWFUL to look at now. :(

However on the flip-side, lining up before and after pictures really makes up for that.

Heya guys

Me here, got a question! As some of you may know I've never been a really fit guy (underweight and lazy) but I did do the daily push- sit ups and squads to stay slightly in shape.

Now last week I've had surgery to my spine so basically my entire body feels like a limp noodle right now and I can't move much, but I still want to focus on improvement right away.

Cause the surgery was way up in the neck, the back of the head actually, there aren't too many exercises that I can comfortably do right now such as push and sit ups but I want to do /something/ even if it isn't much.

Anything you guys can recommend me? Toss me some exercise for extreme pussies cause that's how I feel right now :p

I'll also take things that I can't necessarily do right now, but maybe in a week or two.

Honestly if one of my clients just underwent surgery like you did the only thing I would prescribe is rest and good nutrition as you don't want to tear something by doing unnecessary exercises.

Leave fitness until you're fully healed, Rest is a lot more important at this stage :)

Dangerous game right there, asking for advice on a forum when no one can assess you in person. i would be hesitant to recommend anything without knowing exactly what the surgery entailed. I am surprised you didn't get any advice from your Dr. either about rehab or any type of physiotherapy.

+1 Exactly.

Some of us on here are in the fitness industry but we are not doctors, Get a professional medical opinion but honestly rest and good nutrition are by far the most important things right now going by my own experience of surgery 5 years ago, the DR then said exercise such as training was a big no no, Heal first train later.

Oh no don't get me wrong guys, I'm not looking to tear my own body apart right here, I just want to do some things to idk... loosen up the muscles at the start of the day and things like that. Things that don't take great effort but does help me get through the day without my neck cramping up.

Sorry, should've been a bit more clear :p

The only thing the physio therapist at the hospital recommended was moving my shoulders in rounded motions...

Fair enough though guys, guess I just want to get back on track too fast and I must admit I'm a little impatient. I'll await what the people at the medical rehabilitation centre have to say :)

things that are very important is to learn how to lift without unnecessary tension. That may sound confusing, but honestly I see it a lot especially in the neck and trap area, Dice will know what I am talking about here. Stay loose and honestly go walk some stairs, it will get your circulation going in a short time without any strain. If you sit a lot, schedule every half an hour to hour and just get up and move around. Like Dice says rest and recover.

You could always try slow shoulder shrugs along with doing the rounded motion :)

When I was recouping the only thing I did was jump on the cross trainer at a slow pace i.e pic below or get on the treadmill and walk on an incline at a slow pace just to keep me limber but nothing really impactful at all until I healed properly.
