Well I'm done with bodybuilding for the next months while I rest an injury to my shoulder.
I have a deltoid injury on my right shoulder. I over did it on the bench press and I had my elbows too far out from my sides when bringing the bar down to my chest.
I tore something or whatever. I can freely use my arm except when I rotate my hand/wrist and then raise my arm in certain positions. It sounds very much like a rotator cuff injury, but the pain is actually a little lower down and deep on my front deltoid. So not sure what it is, except I know it is something wrong with my deltoid.
I don't want to spend thousands on an MRI and I don't want to pay many more thousands for surgery (if that is indeed what is required to fix it). This pain has kept me away from bench press for about two months now, and I can't even do one pushup anymore due to the sharp pain.
I think something is definitely torn, but not sure if it is tendon, ligament or muscle. I'm kind of hoping it is muscle, because a severed tendon won't just naturally grow back together without surgery.
So, it has been about two months now since I injured the shoulder. I've been continueing with deadlifts, squats, curls, and triceps, etc. But since I'm not feeling any improvement in the shoulder (in fact it is feeling worse), I've decided to stay away from bodybuilding all together for the next two months.
You may think that squats would not have any affect on a deltoid, but the arm placement (even though no weight is really on them) is still a killer position for the delt.
So now I can only do cardio and situps. lame. See you all in a few months.
