BlueIvy Build

Before I start on this build, I want to show where I am coming from. This is my first true "top end" PC build. I have been building budget machines since I was a teenage (28 now), but this is the first one that I did all my research on.

Here is the first top down build that I did. I created a custom plexiglass window so that I could add some fans to cool the GPU and such.

Notice that there is NO cable management, haha! I didn't even know what that was really, back in 2003 (I think it was when I built this). The case didn't allow for it anyway.

I never got the front USB headers working. Ohh, and those stickers cost extra and gave an added 50mhz to the processor!

Here are the specs for that system.

So! Needless to say, that PC is outdated, and it was time for me to step up!

Introducing, BlueIvy! ! !

I will have an update with the next stage of the build when my water equipment comes in.

Quite a big difference from my first build!

I would have put in some PRIME 95 test results and some graphic benchmarks, but when I tried to run PRIME, my CPU almost blew up! Crappy stock cooler!

Once my water cooling gear is installed, I will do some propper benchmarking.

So, I got all my water cooling gear in. Here is a list:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RAD Top: Magicool Slim Profile 2X140mm Radiator - Black

RAD Bottom: XSPC RX240 Extreme Performance Radiator Version 2

****RES: ???

I was going to go with the XSPC D5 Dual Bay Reservoir, but that thing is a pile! Threads are stripped before I opened the box. I tried to get the filler cap back on, and that doesn't go in, never mind trying to do the compression fittings. Also, the top half has a big gap in between the walls of the res.

PUMP: Aquacomputer D5 Pump Mechanics with RPM Signal

CPU BLOCK: XSPC Raystorm CPU Waterblock - Intel

GPU BLOCK: eVGA Hydro Copper Waterblock for GTX 680 400-CU-G680-B1

GPU Backplate: eVGA GeForce GTX 680 Backplate

TIM: Xigmatek PTI-G4512 Thermal Interface Conductive Compound

FANS 120mm: X 3

Akasa APACHE S-Flow Fan Blade PWM 120mm Case Fan - Black

FANS 140mm: X 3

Akasa APACHE S-Flow Fan Blade PWM 140mm Case Fan - Black

FAN SPLITTERS: Akasa SMART PWM Fan Cable Adapter - Black Braiding for 5 Fans

TUBING: PrimoFlex Pro LRT Clear Tubing -1/2in. ID X 3/4in. OD

LIQUID/CONCENTRATE: Mayhems Pastel Blue Berry Concentrate: $21.95

FITTINGS - 90 Degree: X 3

Koolance Swiveling 90 Angle Fitting, Single - Black

FITTINGS - 45 Degree: X 4

Koolance Fitting Single, Swiveling 45-Degree (V2) - Black

FITTINGS - Compression: X 8

Nozzle Single, *Black* Compression [13mm ID, 19mm OD]

no picture of the 680? Is it real.. lol and your build isn't blue enough to call it BLUEIVY I'm stealing that name for my pc (:

It is Ivy bridge CPU, and an over all color scheme of blue (ram/heat sinks). I am also going to add in Mayhem's blue fluid when I add water cooling - thus the "BlueIvy"

Also, I couldn't think of anything else, haha.

Yep, I am playing Crysis on max with my 680. It starts to foul up after about 3 hours (black screening when I zoom into the weapon and such). I am installing Crysis 2 now to see what new games should look like.

*UPDATE: I got all my water cooling equipment in (as seen above in the edited post).

I need to flush my rads and then I will start putting things all together!

I will need to mod my case a bit to fit the 140's in the roof, so those pics, along with the other progress will be posted once I am done and the PC is up and running.

At first I was reading through and I saw the stock intel fan and was like

. then I kept reading and saw the watercooling components and was like "Oh sh**!" he pulling out the

In order to get 7.9 on your 680, go to the Nvidia control panel and change the dedicated physX processor ("Set PhysX Configuration") option to the graphics card and it will give you 7.9

Looking good so far, keep us updated with pictures of watercooling kit!

some quality kit you have there. Hopefully after the water goes in you'll have the time to tweak all your settngs and post some decent benchies

meanwhile your low scores are making a lot of people very happy

also might be nice to sort the wiring out. no reason why it can't look as nice at the back as it does at the front.

Anyone know why I can't edit this post? I just finished water cooling and would like to post the new images and case mods I did to fit the larger than spec rads and such.

Thanks

You can't edit posts after a bit. I think the edit option disappears after an hour or two. I'm sure this issue will be fixed soon, but for the time being you will have to multipost.
