Blu-ray decoders/ media drivers

I got a Samsung external drive not that long ago, so i could watch and play my blu rays on my pc when i was gaming so i could wear headphones and not keep my house mates up during the night.

The problem is the drive came with a trial PowerDVD which was fine until it ran out and it wont let me play my media anymore.

I did not go and download any from else where as ive been bitten before.

Any suggestions?

Would VLC with the right codec etc. not do the trick ?

I've had no luck with free software at all. VLC does have an option to play Blu-rays but I've never got it working myself. PowerDVD is the only thing that's worked for me.

Just get powerdvd you might? be able to buy it cheap from an ebay store
