Black In Control

Loving it even more than the first job with the copper tubing. Really classy and clean. Looking forward to more photos. The Raystorm blocks are really grabbing me, and I used to always like the EK plexy blocks. Love that you went with white lights to show off your rig rather than just having everything glow one color and blend together in a green/red/blue mush.

Cheers guys, appreciate the comments.

Here's a few more images properly showing the loop from the gpu's to the motherboard's waterblock. The little piece of tubing was tricky as the fittings weren't in complete alignment, and the tubing needs to be pretty square with these fittings. A subtle bend was required.

Been putting my mark on the Aquaero :)

Just need to sort out the cables at the back, button it all up and then complete the overclock. Currently at 4.4GHz at 1.168v, aiming as high as the board and cpu will allow, possibly 4.9 or the illusive 5.0GHz :).

Mysterae can you make a TUT for custom images on the Aquaero?

A TUT? Do you mean a tutorial? I could, but as I use an old version of Fireworks to create my image it might be a bit specific. Any program that can create a 2 tone (black/white) PNG works :). Just remember that the black and white is reversed when you upload it to the Aquaero!

Thread necromancy :)

A little update but worthy none the less. Added an EVGA SLI Bridge to finally finish things off. Should have bought one of these a long time ago.

The dust visible below is a reminder to blow the dust out and to clean the dust filters!

A bit of a blurry image through the acrylic window.

I have been contemplating what my next project will be...

Damn bro.... that is one sweet looking rig - some super nice mods and I LOVE the new tubing. How hard was it to bend it etc?

What are your Delta temps on cpu with oc and what voltages are you using? Also GPU temps?

It takes some practice to bend the pipes, I went through a lot of normal copper tubing before perfecting the bends and moving to the chromed tubing. Worth it though!

On idle my water temp delta is around 0.6 - 0.8C, and under load with the CPU and GPUs that delta is never any more than 4.0C. It all depends on the ambient temperature of the room and if I have the window open :).

I was running at 4.8GHz at 1.31V and a mixture of other system voltages, but the system started to BSOD over time, so I reduced it to 4.6GHz at 1.25V and it's been rock steady ever since. I might venture in to adjusting the overclock again some time but for now I'm busy using the system :).

Never did get Aquasuite looking the way I wanted.

Looking better than ever mate. Have you got any tips, on the bending, of the metal tube, did you use a spring, manual, or hydraulic bender ? I'm looking into a TJ08 build and I'm dying to go all black, with black chrome, fittings and tube. So any advice would be great mate, a mini how to might go down well, to go along with the acrylic bending sticky.

B Negative already has a pretty good thread running about bending copper tubing.

All I could add is the use of a good pipe bender which can be a bit hit and miss. The first pipe bender marked the pipes and I messed it up further trying to modify it. Also, as the chrome tubing I got from ebay was coiled, making it straight before bending was an issue, until I found out about this:

Very effective, but expensive for what little use it got at the time.

When bending and getting it precise, you need to practice a lot. Buy lots of cheap copper pipe before using the nice stuff. Avoid connections at right angles to each other, unless you have a method of fitting and removal, ie. being able to mount or slot in the component with the pipes connected. This is relevant for the push-in connectors I used. Brasso makes the copper nice and shiny :).

Some of the tools I tried out.

The bending spring is not very accurate or tidy, fine for pipes around the house where they are hidden, but not for your pc if they are on show. Useless for complex bends as it gets stuck. Get a good pipe cutter with a reamer edge like that shown above.

Good luck with your build mate!

Cheers buddy, The only advantage I've got is my 25 year old city and guilds in plumbing, I've done bits here and there with copper pipe and have always used a bender rather than fittings where possible, but going from copper that isn't visible to nice shiny chrome is a different ball game. I've got a decent cutter so at least I've got a start.

I looked into that straightener but was worried that it would mark the finish, but looking at yours it worked like a charm. I'm only going to need 4 very small runs, so I'm thinking about getting the Alphacool 40 cm lengths, but I'm concerned about them being to short to get the finish I need. Or considering there isn't many runs needed I could always go down the Crystal link method, and use all fittings.

I think sourcing different tube, and a mixture of fittings, is my first step, to get a good colour match to the black chrome tube, but there is the first problem, the tube is black chrome the fittings are either shiny black, or black nickel. At a guess the shiny black is the way to go though. Cheers buddy, I've got more to think on now, I might even have to go for a 970, over a 980, to claw some pennies back. Bloody water cooling addiction I'm always skint.
