Hey guys,

I want to start off by giving a huge thank you to some people who have helped me along the way, especially since I first joined up here and have helped me shape my PC into what it is presently...

So since I'm rebuilding my PC currently, I thought I'd do a build log of it (or atleast try to) and I couldn't come up with a good name for it, so Feronix came up with one instead :lol:...

And to sort of live up to the name of this build log, I'll give you a short history of the past 3 years up untill the last year to few months ago...

So here is my first built PC, which was in early 2012, which my school back then paid for.
It's only one picture, but I'll run down the specs of it.

Intel i7 2600K
ASUS Sabertooth P67
8GB Corsair Vengeance
Sapphire Radeon HD6950
Corsair Force Series 3" 180GB
Western Digital Raptor 150GB
Silver Power 800W
Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced USB 3.0 Version + side panel

Since then, my PC has obviously evolved... now I don't have all the pics of my certain build, so I'll borrow Google's images and hope you don't mind.

But I got a new SSD for the PC, which I've used and currently use for my OS... an Samsung 840 Pro 256GB:

And a case for the PC about 2 years after the original build, the Corsair Vengeance C70 Gunmetal Black...

After this point in time, I got the idea of going small... so I went mITX, with the ASUS P8Z77-Deluxe motherboard...

I've used all the components from my origin PC just switching cases and such... and for this small PC, I purchased a smaller case obviously....

The Corsair Obsidian 250D (which I still have lying on my floor)...

Which I was unfortunately not a very big fan off to be honest, I didn't quite like the look of it after a while etc... so then I got another case, the Corsair Graphite 380T
And this picture suits perfectly as I first got the white version due to white LEDs would go better with my blue LED fans I thought instead of red LEDs.
So I tried Plastidipping the case and that went horrible, so got the Black version on sale as well ...

Then I didn't like it either, so I then got the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2...

...as at this time I had already gone from 8GB to 16GB RAM, but I was constantly using up those 16GB or close to, so I wanted to go 32GB... but couldn't be at this small form factor anymore, so next smallest form factor to support 32GB was mATX and here is where some purchases was done, about 6 months ago...

Intel i7 4790K:

Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2x8 sticks (already had 16GB of these):

Corsair HX750i:

MSI Z97M-G43 mATX motherboard:

ASUS GTX 970 Strix:

It had massive coil whine, even the replacement one I got, so I then went onto Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X:

And it also had massive coil whine, so returned that one to the same store as the 970's... and then went to another store and got the ASUS GTX 980 Strix:

I then returned the MSI motherboard, due to some incompability with the GPU and RAM, which made the graphics card sagg a bit:

So then the ASUS Gryphon Z97 Armor Edition came along, I did wanted it in the beginning but the MSI was black and blue, which fitted my color theme better:

And now I'm finally at this point in time, the present... I recently returned the 980 due to some personal issues and needed the money, so that's the reason for returning it.

I have also made some purchases recently, of new fans and CPU cooler to upgrade a bit...

Welcome the Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition PWM x 3 and Corsair SP120 Performance Edition PWM x 2, as well as Fractal Design Kelvin S36 CPU cooler...

I installed the 3 x Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition PWM's fans on the Kelvin S36 for the upgrade that I will do soon...

So yeah... if you managed to actually read all of this, I salute you. But I've seen everyone's build logs and thought I'd share mine with you lot, but with a little background to it ...

I will try and post as much pictures and updates as I can, as I go along with upgrades and such.

Which one you mean?... at the moment I have the FD Arc Mini R2 (which I'm using), Bitfenix Aegis, Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced USB 3.0 and Corsair 250D.

A small update for you guys, something arrived in the post 2 days ago, which is part of the overall upgrade of my entire setup in general

Also I'm a bit confused, so a question for you guys... the Kelvin S36 has a wire from the pump, which is a 3 pin connector. Where do I plug this in on the motherboard and where do I plug in the single 4 pin to 3x4pin adapter, for the fans on the motherboard?...

As the H100i, you plug the 3 pin into the CPU_header and then fans into the CPU block, but this one is different.

I thought I was the only person to have a collection of cases. I've got a 250D and a Zalman stuffed in the cupboard under my stairs lmao.

250D is an awful case. Thin, flimsy construction and a poor layout with nowhere to hide any cables. I know it's ITX but it's bloody big !

I got one of those XXL mouse mats from OCUK a couple of weeks ago for my son, he loves it, they are massive!

If you get fed up with it on your desk you can use it as a table cloth

Haha nice one! ... Actually mine was scratched a little bit, so gonna send it back for a replacement unfortunately.

A small update here guys... and a question for you... is it bad, can it be bad, will it be bad for the memory stick to be pinched a little bit to the side by the tubes on the radiator? (see pictures below)

It's not the best images in the world to try and explain it, but the closest stick, the farthest one to the left is a bit pinched to the right, to the other stick.

Can/is/will this be bad for that specific stick in the long run?... as turning the rad the other way around, having the tubes coming down the back side of the case will be challenging, if even work at all. Due to the tight space to the rear fan.

I've thought of the possibility to perhaps turn the CPU block 90 degrees, but it didn't seem to work out though... and let me tell you, even though I accidentally made the mistake of having 2 Intel mounting screws and 2 AMD mounting screws for my Intel mounting, it was still a real fucking pain in my arse to get it installed. Holy fucking shit, this is by far the hardest installation I've done.
The support bracket on the back, the like sticky things didn't work at all, were to slim. Atleast the ones with the Corsair AIO's are a bit ticker, so it's actually has some room between the motherboard and bracket to attach, this one didn't, as there were room between, so the sticky stuff couldn't actually stick to the motherboard lol.

Also, getting an RMA on this unit, the pump is faulty... it's louder than my fridge to my right lol.

It should be fine so long as the actual dimm slot isn't tilting or anything. If the actual PCB of the RAM stick is bending too then it could present a problem in the future as it may warp over time.

You seem to get many many issues with hardware and are constantly RMA'ing products.. I wonder if it's just on you not knowing? Unless you have extreme bad luck. I've been lucky enough to never have gotten a faulty product(knock on wood).

Okay, well not really sure what you mean regarding the actual PCB and how to check it... as it's hard to see the actual PCB, due to most of the stick is covered up in aluminium or so.

I think it's jsut extreme bad luck my friend... I mean, sometimes they are faulty, like the GPUs (970's, R9 290X) they all had massive coil whine, even the store was surprised over the amount it had.

The 980 I sent back due to personal issues.

Other than that, I don't know what else you think about regarding RMA ... and yes, be happy dude, as it ain't that fun to send faulty products back and have to wait to get on with finishing the build

Dude, you've read my mind... spooky

But yes, that was my idea and will try it later on... but not sure if it will work though, didn't seem like the mounting would line up unfortunately, ie not a square shape.

Yes, I'll be getting a cover for the pump, as I don't like the design of the pump overall.

I think the thermal armour might be in the way. Worth a shot though. The RAM dimm being pushed slightly shouldn't be a problem at all.

Are you sure you want to stick to just that C then?
