I've signed up to a 8MB package, download speeds are okish for me (not really) but the upload speed is a total bulls**t

Just done a line test on BT website and i can now get BT infinity with 23.6Mb download and 8.6Mb upload

Going to switch to BT now

I've been quite lucky with Virgin Media. I've got a 20Mb connection and that is what I get. Average download speed is 2.5MB/s and can peak to 3.9MB/s, albeit very rarely. Steam and Origin download at 2.5MB/s consistently if the connection is not being shared

, stuck with phone line :s... cheap companies >.<

They haven't updated the lines or extended their network since NTL owned the company, which was before them Telewest... and that was 90's-early 2000's and they still don't think that it's about time to update their network >.<.

y'd think its about time, 10 years later on, its the 2010's now ...

they are so thick it seems, they dont seem to realise that they can make a bucketload more money if they just invest initially

whats the old saying, speculate to accumulate? ...

They can be real b*****ds as well though. My brother phoned them up to temporarily disable our service, since we were going on holiday and when we came back we were still hit with a bill. When he phoned them to ask why they sent the bill when he told them to disable the service, they said that they have no record of any conversation telling them to temporarily stop the service. Terrible, terrible customer service, but it's the best Internet Service in terms of speed in my area.

Sorry for going off topic.

Agreed... Virgin Media have only done 2 things, cracked the pirating/illegal use of their TV services and broadband (hello NAGRA3), and made so many TV boxes it's unreal, hello Tivo, I see you but do not want you

I bet he has Virgin Media on his island

It's a shame because my family have been with cable since it was first released in the 90's, they've paid every single month on time with bills so high... I also carried on our beloved cable service when I left home, but left for a more convenient place with low crime rate and drug abuse... and we get the worse broadband service ever. It's not a suprise that a few miles away in my town that 1 of the streets has the worst broadband speed in the world (yes it's true, very close to mine, infact it's higher), maybe I should put in for the record?

, money is money to them, although I have to be fair, they've always been good with me. The cancelling service also costs as I was having work done on my old property and cancelled the phone line whilst staying at a local hotel as I didn't want a huge bill of pr0n from the workmen. Cost me a bit to cancel outgoing calls :s... and my TV box was also stolen, and someone bought films with it, and I got the bill... they tried to charge me £150 for a freeview box & the films lol... I got the box back in the end (hello GF's brother), and still had to pay the film usage

I hope BT do not block torrent sites as I get most of my trial software/opensource stuff from there, so I need it tbh. (lol I do not pirate:P, seriously:P)

When I was at home they didn't put cable in which sucks, but I think they are planning to put in new cables soon or something. But at Uni the speeds are great, especially during the day time. Not that I'm usually awake at that sort of time but still

Probably has Sky, don't think he can get cable in his area xD

xD, I had another rave at them, just expressing how disappointed I am with their care for current and potential customers. I contacted BT again today and they said they do not know when my town will be able to get BT Infinity >.<, I was told it would be here early 2012 defo... I hate being lied to
