Bfg 7800 Gsoc & Bf2

Hi guys,

This is a cry for help....I installed one of the above cards primarily for use with BF2. Since then I get blocks of colours, lines and wotnot at various times (but not all the time). Sometimes I can play a round fine until the map resets but after that the only way to cure it is to reboot the pc.

What is slightly worrying is that this happens whatever the setting in the game (low medium or high).

I have tried practically all the nvidia drivers (always using driverclean in between) butu to no avail. I have even reinstalled XP and bf2.

Everything is fine in XP.

My machine is a P4 2.7ghz with 2gb ram.

Does anyone know if I need a particular driver or whether this is a symptom of something else?? I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer.

Thx

Abo.

ya sounds like your temps are too high, or maybe if it's overclocked then the speed is too high. My o/ced 7900GS works for actual gaming but artifacts in a few situations, like 2142 map loading screen and Windows screensaver >.< Try lowering the clocks and/or improving case cooling etc.

Lolers you get artifacts on the Windows screensaver? Wow.

It seems that you could be under volting the card or the temps are to high like mentioned before. You might also want to check your AGP voltage in the bios and make sure its not to high or low. (Default is 1.5)

Sorry bout the delay guys.....damn business trips!!

My PSU is 500w...has 21a on the 12v rail so it shouldn't be that. When ever I have checked the temps it just says 40-50 degrees...

As far as oc'ing is concerned I think this is factory overclocked. Can you change the settings??? I certainly haven't changed any settings out of the box.

The AGP voltage is deffo 1.5.

I must admit, I am starting to think I'll have to take it back to the shop...

Cheers

I have just had it replaced....shop thinks it my be faulty too so I will give it a go...thx for the advice and I will keep you informed.

It's definitely not the card then, so it's time to start looking primarily at the PSU as the main culprit, if not that then the mobo.

Well, i have a problem with my 7800GSOC. I have a BFG Tech one too, and like you, i had problems. I spent days trying to figure out what was ailing it; and then i noticed what it was. If your card drops below 40C while your playing, your gonna start expiriencing slowdown. Call up BFG and ask them; the 7800GPU throttles down after 39-40C.
