I'm not that surprised, it's a demanding game with stunning visuals, 20GB is a fair chunk of space though, let's hope it's those huge maps that I think I'm gonna love. I would assume a 580 or perhaps a 570 could max this game at acceptable frame rates, but let's wait and see.

Dayum, my 6850 ain't gonna like this. I wasn't planning on buying a new card until the 7xxx series either. Damn you, Dice. Damn you

Pretty steep requirements, but what does recommended actually mean? Will the recommended cards be able to max out the game or does it just mean they will be able to run it at decent settings/frame rates?

EDIT: Does anybody know if Hyperthreading will have an affect on performance?

Minimum requirements just means the bear minimum you will need to run the game but that doesn't mean it will run very well. The recommended requirements are what is recommended to be able to play the game with decent performance but not maxed out.

Hyper threading should help the game has been optimized to use up to 8 cores.

What about metro 2033 or witcher 2. They have to be the most demanding games out right now.

Well it's a brand new engine, I think recommended runs it all on around medium with 60fps min, to max it out you need a bit more horsepower.

6850 won't like this SieB

What about metro 2033 or witcher 2. They have to be the most demanding games out right now.

Metro 2033 is a bit unoptimised, and The Witcher 2 with Ubersampling off actually gives quite good performance.

I was thinking there was something "off" with metro 2033. It doesn't look better than any of the other good-looking games and it doesn't perform as well as them.

You should see all the threads with people barely being able to start the game at the beginning, let alone play properly.

Man I'm so happy I got that 560GTX-Ti... I'd have been stuck playing with (if I could even get it to play!) a 9800gt!

Will be interesting to see how 5870 CF/ 480 SLI/ 5970/ 6990/ 580 SLI/ 570 SLI/ 590 cope with this. Anything less is a lost cause maxed out

I have three main rigs, one for gaming, one for general internet stuff and graphics work, and a media station. Once I install the 580s, the 480 currently in residence will move down to my internet PC, then the 280 from that one will migrate to my media system (the twin 8800s in there will probably end up as doorstops, bookends, landfill...). Plus my desk is extremely cluttered, so making space to even get inside the system is going to be a chore in it's self!
