Bench Team Chat.

I just checked my 3 month old purchase of 8gb 3000mhz c11 ram,and they have changed the price from 180euro to 480euro.

Might be worth checking because I believe the ram is better for high clocks than it is for raw speed because of the fact that the ram modules are usually single sided. That's why you can find 2900 C12 MFR getting beaten by 2400 C10 Samsung stuff quite easily.

I have seen a tempting offer at 1000£.SR-2 with waterblock installed+2 xeonX5680+24gb 2000mhz ram.I`m tempted,but i have been saving my money for a 4930k or 4960x.Hmmmm

That is an absolutely fantastic deal, I mean think of the CPU score you'd get in vantage with that!!! :D

Also I remember reading about the layout of the Ivy-E CPU and how it could limit overclocking due to it's design. Having had a look its pretty accurate so you may not see Ivy-E CPU's overclocking much more than Sandy-E CPUs :(

I don't blame you, that's a nice price :o
Have fun with it :)
They wouldnt deliver me at this price ,someone made a mistake :(
But i will get me a 4930k by monday(payday) morning,and 20kg DICE
If i`m lucky it`ll do 5ghz+ with 2400mhz ram.
It`s time to reclaim my hd5970 3dmvantage throne.:p
Edit:And i have 4xgigabyte hd5870 too.

Edit:Had to buy an i7-3820 to upgrade bios with, and its a decent cpu doing 5375mhz.
The 4930k wont do more than 4.9ghz@1.4v unfortunately, but scores on the ivy-e 4930k@4.9ghz are much better at lower clocks than SB-E 3930k@5.1ghz. And next session ill do the 4xhd5870.

Hi Guys.

I'm slowly starting to overclock again. Bought a Haswell setup last week and did some ln2 runs on the setup.

I have an average 4770K chip. It won't boot 5 Ghz on air highest is 4800 MHz on air with 1.3 volt but it scales ok on ln2 with -130 c.

Bought a new Kingston HyperX beast Hynix MFR kit so i could do some superpi 32M efficiency runs at 4 ghz on the cpu.

Hey Rasmus, glad to hear you are still benching mate. Am I right in thinking though that MFR kits are bad for benchmark runs because they are mainly single sided and also have really high sub timings?

Main timmings sucks balls but you can tweak the subtimmings:)

MFR chips is the AMD of ram.

High frequency but no real performance.

Nice one mate looking forward too seeing what you get, have you done any pre testing with the CPU before at all and/or has it been run cold before. Just wondering what the cold bug might be too.
