I have just invested in BF2 and discovered that my graphics card doesnt cut the mustard. What graphics cards are people using to play this game? and also what is the best place on the t'internet to buy a new card from?

Well we need to know a bit about your system to help ya mate.

What motherboard/processor you got? What kind of card do you have at the moment? Is it AGP or PCI-E??

Anything from an ATI 9800Pro should run BF-2 decently, but ideally if you have the money then 6800GT upwards or x800pro upwards should be nice.

ok, my system isnt too exciting, its a Dell 5150 from the outlet store, which im sure was advertised with the ATI X300 video card, however it just has the onboard videao support which comes up as an Intel chipset. Its a P4 3GHz with 2Gb of memory.

Im not looking for anything real top of the line, just something with some power, that will run BF2, and not be outdated too quickly

How about a 6800GS?? Their about £140-160

If thats too dear then a 6600GT is about £90ish

ok, cheers a further question: what is the difference between: "nVidia Geforce 6600GT 128MB AGP" and "Gigabyte GF 6600GT 128MB AGP", is it just the same chipset with a different manafacturers board and software etc.?

You got it. The Nvidia one is the reference design and the other one is made (put together) by Gigabyte

so where game X says it supports NVidia graphics card X, does that mean that the game should work 100% with Gigabyte graphics card X? are the drivers the same or is it only the basic chips that are the same?

Drivers and basic cards exactly the same mate - maybe slightly higher clocks and slightly different layout.

But anyhoo - BF-2 has no issues with 6600GT

Yea when i had my 9800XT i played it maxed on a CRT (1024x768). For 1280x1024 and 4xAA it was hard on it but nothign a little OC cant handle. My server runs it just fine. If your buying a 6600GT it should be just fine.
