Its because they still teach imperial measurements first then metric measurements in school. I use a mix, like most people my ageIt saddens me that so many British people still use imperial measurements, despite the UK having been a metric country for nearly 50 years lol

I was just kidding mateAlthough I do look forward to it being phased out haha. As if they still teach imperial in school I never knew that lol
Agreed QuietOne. Phones nowadays typically have a full QWERTY keyboard rather than the old number/letter keys; they should appreciate only having to press the button once for a letter! Bad spelling irks me too, but I never like to say; the last time I did, the person I corrected was dyslexic, and I felt so bad.
why would you feel bad, that person is not going to ever improve if nobody corrects him. being dyslexic doesn't mean that they won't ever learn to spell correctly, it just takes them longer to learn.
I guess I'm just not as tough skinned as you then![]()
what has that got to do with tough skinned? if you say it in a nice way i see no reason for that person to feel terrible.

That's not how dyslexia works.
It doesn't have anything to do with not being able to spell. For some people with dyselxia, for example when they see the letter S their brain tells them it's the letter A or something else.
There are different variations of dyslexia, but it's not something you can simply learn not to do, it's hardwired into their brain.
my adopted brother is heavily mentally disabled, part of that is that he doesn't really learn. for example he'd touch a hot stove 100x until he finally gets that it is hot. even though repeating to tell him about his mistakes makes next to no difference we still correct him every time, it takes ages but at some point he learns. idk if it works like that with dyslexia as well, but it's worth a try, isn't it.
Dyslexia isn't something like where you touch something and learn from the reaction you get by touching it. There are many types of dyselxia, some aren't so bad as others and there are ways of overcoming it or noticing patterns.
For example one of my friends had one type of dyslexia where his brain jumbled the words up. But if he used a yellow piece of thin transparent plastic over the what he was reading it helped and the words didn't get all jumbled up as much.
But there are more severe cases where to a dyslexic person everything they read is backwards like "siht si sdrawkcab" or some people just have letters that are all mixed up like this "gonig to het krpa" < going to the park.
- Short term memory (due to dyslexia)
- Procrastination
- I also leave things to the last minute, but will often deliver a better end result this way
- Easily distracted
- Joint clicking
- Can't stand anything on my hands that leaves residue, means washing hands 10's of 100's of times a day
- Everything must be in it's correct orientation when returned to it's packaging.
- I'm a pixel Nazi when doing design
- Not always linear thinker
- Impatient with people who don't understand things the way I do
- I'm untidy in IRL but it kinda drives me mad
- Correct people who say something wrong and it drives me mad
- Hate being wrong about something
- Talking to people of lesser intelligence or intellect, actually causes me pain sometimes
- Short term memory
- I will actively try and trap someone in a lie, if I notice they have lied to me...
- .. which often leads to paranoia
- And yet I can almost 'pathalogically' lie if required to, without so much as breaking a sweat.
There's more but I think that's about as far into my inner psych' as I'm willing to let you lot delve.
