Bad IDE channel on AB9 Pro?

I just got done putting the last pieces in to my buddies new build and got it fired up but I'm having a bit of an issue with the optical drive.

When I turn on the computer the drives light just blinks and the mobo never detects the drive. I've tried swapping cables, swapping drives, using all of the different master/slave/cs settings, and no matter what the mobo isn't picking up that theres an optical drive attached.

The board is an AB9 Pro bought brand new from Newegg. Everything else seems to be working fine, just the IDE channel is giving us problems.

Does this sound like a bad channel on the mobo, or just something not computing for one reason or another?

At this point it seems that the best route to take would be to purchase an IDE 2 SATA adapter for the back of the drive and just run it via SATA.

What do yall think, ever seen this before?

One of the drives the light blinks, and when tested with another drive the light just stays solid (2 different brands and models).

Thx in advance for any help or suggestions that lead to a resolution.

I set up an AB9 Pro a couple of days back. Have you enabled the 'Jmicron controller' in the BIOS? Should be set to IDE mode.

Aye and sometimes you have to install the RAID drivers

MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE RAID DRIVERS!:)

(or the DVD/CDRWwill be REALLY slow)

I fought with that for hours before I read somewhere they need the raid drivers even if you dont use raid.
