AX860 ATX 24Pin cable

Hey folks.

I'm in the process of installing my new PSU , first fully modular one at that and need some clarification regarding the ATX 24PIN cable.

On one end is the 24 pin that goes into the motherboard and on the other end is a 28 split into 18 and 10. The thing is the way the sockets are laid out on the PSU itself it only labels 18 pins as ATX 24. So do I just need to hook up the 18 pin and leave the 10 hanging so to speak.

On the cable heads itself it has '650 to 860AX ONLY' so I'm guessing the 28 is for a different power supply?

Thanks in advance

On my AX850 (which may or may not be slightly different), my 24pin splits into a 10pin which goes into the top rail, in the right most slot (with the fan down), and an 18pin which goes into the bottom rail in the right most slot. The ends say AX650/750/850 only.

Edit: Does your PSU have a manual with instructions as to what goes where?

No particular instructions as to what goes where no. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow.

Edit:

You have to plug both the 18 pin and 10 pin in, but at first glance in a badly lit room both of the slots marked ATX 24pin on the PSU both looked to be 18 slots, where as only one is 18 slot and the other is 10.

This didn't click with me at first because of the way my split 28 pin was shrink wrapped, I had to force it around to plug in properly, although I didn't do that, I just sat the cable on a radiator for a little while and it became a little more flexible.

Everything is powered up ok, cable management is much better too. There's a little electronic buzz sound but I'm not to worried about it.
