AnadTech hid this one away well!!
But ah well - here's some more info on the r520
Well thats once again later than was expected. ATI really need to get it together. I'm Frankly very dissapointed at the shabby release dates and the amount of time they've taken merely to catch up with nvidia
[QUOTE["AnandTech"]There is some discrepancy between the exact naming on the various cards. We have heard R520 "GL" in the past, but this most recent roadmap seems to indicate R520XL instead. A "Pro" version of the R520 is mentioned as well, but that is the only card for which we do not have an exact availability date. Expect retail availability of these cards in November.[/QUOTE]
SO more confuddling names from ATI IMO - they should sort it out. Nvidia got it right last gen and their names are far easier to understand. I assume nvidia will release an "Ultra" in response to this lot
12pipes? Hmmm A fast card to be sure and that extra frame buffer with the 1.4ns memory will help, but will it whoop nvidia (especially seeing as nvidia are rumoured to be holding back another card soon)??
Mid and low end:
So crossfire will be ready on these card by late October. About time too!
The lower specd card:
Meh looks boring to me!!
Still should be a decent card tho
So there you go - ATI's next gen. Am I impressed? Well that remains to be seen...but just looking at the spec sheet it doesnt look amazing really!

The ATI roadmaps specifically claim the new R5xxx series cards have new video architectures, new memory controllers and now use a 90nm production process. Whether that equates to better performance will have to wait until the actual production launches
