to find a block for it.

any help would be awesome - thx

I'd go with sapphire myself. I don't think any differer from the reference design like Asus do on the green front but don't quote me on that.

at the UK price............ur joking right?

last i checked, when it comes to graphics cards and whatever else in the US/UK comparison:

$400 = £400

correct.

hmmmmmmm - just checked amazon, its about £40 more than the US........but im thinking with shipping and whatnot........i wouldn't be saving all that much. Especially not if it has an issue....

Yeah I did quite a bit of comparing GFX cards as I was gonna get one brought back from the US for me. While ya will save a few quid (not as much as ya think) sometimes it's just not worth it and get the UK one for the warranty. That and the fact a lot of these bloody sites don't accept international credit cards.

i was thinking of getting it from a friend as a "gift"

edit:

yea, ur right tbh, i'd be "saving" about £67..........BUT...........i would be using about £50 in P&P :/

ah well.......ebuyer it is

As in using their card? Wouldn't be an issue then.

If you mean with regards warranty? Then it wouldn't make much odds. Some companies might help you out. I emailed about 5 with regards if my card buggered up and only BFG said they would definitely cover me in the UK.. XFX said they would probably be able to help me out.

All the others said don't be silly.. Not a chance.

I bought 2 x PowerColor 4870's only because all the Sapphire ones were sold out (PowerColor were like AUS$10 dearer for each card). They're all pretty much of a muchness mate, although Sapphire and PowerColor are launching some non-reference cards now so keep that in mind

nope, i mean them sending it over as a gift, this way you dont pay import tax.

If it`s over a certain value.. £30 I *think*, I`m sure u still pay tax on it in the UK.

ah well, i wouldn't be saving much tbh, I'll just be going to ebuyer instead.

I'd only save money if it was an impulse buy whislt i happened to be on hols in the states or if a friend came over from the states.
