Atempt to overclock and windows

i hav manged an overclock once, of 100MHz, but every and i mean EVERY other time i have tried it winreg.dll and 2 others became corupt, and i hav no explanation as too why...anyy ideas?

follow pv's n00b A64 overclocking guide down to a tee. i dont mean any harm by this...i just suspect you are doing something slightly wrong.

Ionicle your ATA controller isn't locked, or...your whole PCI Bus isn't locked.

Don't OC. You'll break or corrupt data. :)

#1 cause of botched overclocks is usually due to running SATA hd's on the unlocked ports... I was victim to this on the Winnie when I first got started. I couldnt figure out for the life of me what was wrong when it was happening to me.

i use IDE and i tried o/cin from the bios, by doin it through software as hardware was blanked out, and the only way ican do it is on a window that comes up and ses enter a number between 200 and 233

Well Ionicle, your mobo is Junk tbh.

You know that.

The chances that your ATA ports being locked, let alone your PCI bus, is slim--to none...so, I'd once again; lay off the OC.

ya, but i wanna o/c!!! lol 2GHz aint enough!, n whats a ATA port!? or a pci bus?! thats beyond my level of expertiese, mindya say computer to me, and i wil prolly stare at the screen dumfounded lol:D

pci bus is unlikely to make windows get corrupted. it will just have no sound/video or whateva else is on the bus. i had probs with my old crapy asus mobo

He's supposed to have 1024 :) It's rare that you hit 1024 on the nose, most of the time ive been lucky and gotten 1-2mb's extra, don't believe i've ever come up short.

Dave, all perhipherals (ATA, SATA, NETWORKING, AUDIO, ETC) run off the PCI bus.

This is why XP got corrupted....
