Have the - Asus P8Z77-V

- 1TB WD

- 64gb SSD

I would like to know the proper way to connect up for the SSD caching. I have the OS and all installed and gtg on the HDD, which is conncted to the Marvell. And the SSD connected on the Intel chipset.

Like this it wont let me do SSD caching. Even on the Asus Suite 2 there is not even the menu for accelerate.

Could one of you kind sirs in the know please instil me with your knowledge.

Thanks in advance

It might be an idea to have both the hdd and the ssd on the intel chip set

Also how much ram have you got? i.e 4,8,16,32GB of ram

Do you have a Msata SSD because I think it only works with a Msata SSD in the nmotherboard.

theres 8gb of corsair hyper-X 1600

And no not msata ssd, standard 2.5 OCZ 64gb

Its really starting to bug me, everything else i can handle

for ssd caching you dont need to raid the ssd also when you go above 4GB of ram it's better to use the 64bit version of the os

have you got plans for intel rapid start?

first off i suggest RTFM first it tells you exactly what to do. Secondly both drives have to be on the Intel chipset. It aint called IRST (INTEL Rapid storage Tech) for nothing. Thirdly IRST is rubbish I had multiple crashes and instability when I tried to use it. However I do understand the desire to try it.

Most if not all boards are the same when it comes to configuring the IRST

first set bios to the setting the manual states. Normally raid.

second install on the hdd install the IRST software (download latest from the manu's website and make sure you run the updates if any.

third add your ssd

fourth run the IRST software and configure the ssd to cache per the manuals req's

now it will take several opening of programs you use freq and reboots for the caching to work. Its not a blammo you have warp speeds

lastly reinstall on ur ssd and install ur apps and games to ur hdd
