Asus Xonar D2X need help - SPDIF has sound, Front analog input has buzzing sound

Hey guys, I have a Xonar D2X connected to a Z-5500 for speakers and a gaming headset.

The output sound is fine if I run it out through SPDIF, however when I try to plug in my headset to the front analog output I can barely hear anything, I have to turn up the volume to max and even then its a whisper. Same goes for my mic, it transmit with a lot of static and people say they can't hear me its only a buzzing sound. I also switched off the SPDIF in the Audio Center as well.

I wouldn't care so much but I can't use my gaming headset with this SC. The analog sound that comes out can barely be heard and the mic sounds like static. I tested the headset on my other rig and it works fine so that's not the problem.

In my Audio Center under the Mixer tab, my MIC icon is selected and my microphone boost is already turned on. Not sure what is wrong, if anyone can shine some light on this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

As far as I know the headphone/mic jack are put on speakers/consoles just for convenience and they won't provide the same quality as being connected directly to the sound card, it's always recommended to connect to the sound card directly. That being said the jacks on z5500 console are really bad.
Just use an extension 3.5mm cable(if you need more cable) and connect directly to the sound card.

The thing is, I plugged my headset directly into my sound card? The 2 3,5mm jack cables right in the soundcard.

Is the floppy power connector loose (connected but somewhat loose)? it might be a power issue.
I had a similar problem where after a few disconnects/connects of the floppy connector, the white plastic that holds the pins together on the card moved outward a bit and pins weren't long enough to make full contact and the connector was a bit loose. The card was being recognized but was acting weird. So i had to carefully push the white plastic a bit inward, until the connecter wasn't loose anymore. After that it worked.

ive had this issue when connecting the front panel audio to a soundcard until i realised i used the wrong connector i used ac97 not hd audio...

also a note with the floppy power connector a few ive installed had the same loose connection issue as described above by Snorton to fix it i had to remove the soundcard from the pci slot connect the floopy power cable then reconnect to the pci slot.

oh and some prefer the bigger pci slot even though some are pci 1x complient...

Come again? I have disabled the on board sound inside the bios and removed everything sound related in Windows except for the audio drivers from Asus. Don't got anything else. Do I need something more?

your case has front panel audio connector i.e mic and headphone on your case like i said i had this issue by not connecting the correct plug into my soundcard.

look at the cables from the front of your case you will see an audio one 99% of the time it has 2 connectors only 1 needs to be plugged in.

some old motherboards/soundcards use ac97 audio so you use the ac97 plug from the front of the case, 99% of everything built after 2005 uses HD audio so you use that one instead.

the issue your having is more than likly a power problem double check the floopy power connector is in correctly and not loose it should fix it

ok by the look of your pictures you dont have the power connector in the back of the card Page 6 of your user Manuel part number 14 in the diagram.

then page 9 of your user Manuel..

also you can use asus live chat support from there website they should be better equipped to help you fix this instead of us just confusing you via txt on a message board.

and i would also move the soundcard to the slot at the top but thats just me it should work in any pci.e x1 slot..
