Asus strip raid pro any good

Ok I'm in the market for a sound card for gaming and music to power my sennheiser hd598's. I've always used creative cards but keep being told Asus are better. I've found the Asus strip raid pro for a reasonable price, is it any good anyone have any experience with it?

Doing some quick googling on it it seems ok. little too expensive for what it is.

For half the price you could get something like the Fiio E10k to drive those headphones easily. I used that little thing to drive my Beyer's which are a little harder to drive than those 598's. If you want something with more power in it than the FX Audio DAC-X6 is a good option as well. Never personally used it however.

If you want to stay internal, than you could honestly go with one way cheaper to drive those headphones. Other option I would personally consider is the HT OMEGA FENIX for less money. That all said, the Strip seems totally fine.

I agree with you. The Fiio E10k is great value for money and sounds pretty good. It retains good definition and clarity. Im a big fan of the audioquest dragonfly black for a little more money thats a usb DAC with headphone out.
The asus soundcards i have heard dont seem to be big enough sound improvement over most internal sound cards to justify the cost. I tried the strix raid dlx and wasnt impressed it added noise to the signal when i tested it and i had a coil whine issue introduced by the card. The xonar essence sounded pretty good but was a lot of money. I was testing with both sets of headphones open and closed back and my hifi system.
It all depends on what your driving, whether its just headphones or a system as well. You dont start to notice big differences until your headphones are at the higher end.
