Yesterday i put my computer off and all the fans went off but the led on fan remained on, i got the q code 00 and the led on the MSI logo on GPU just brightened down but did not go off.

Thats what it looks like when i put it to sleep or turn it off.

I put it back on and it booted up fine but when i turned it off again the same thing happened, so i just put the mains switch off and left it for the night.

Today i turned it on, it booted fine and no other problems, i went to lunch and put it on sleep and it showed the q code 00 again, when i came back from lunch and woke it from sleep it reset 2 times before booting properly.

Specs: I7 4790k. 4.6hz@1.26v
Asus maximus VII hero
Corsair vengence pro 1866mhz 2x 8gb
MSI 980ti
Corsair AX 760

Yes my bios is updated and i am 100% sure its 00

Q Code 00 is not used. It will most likely by D0 which is "CPU Initialisation Error". Can be caused by faulty power delivery from Caps etc.
Try either dropping your OC slightly or increasing the Vcore to see if the problem persists. If it does, may be a hardware issue.

Posted a pic of the q code and the LED's remaining on, yeah the MB leds remain on but here the gpu LED is staying on and the LED fan at the bottom is staying on also which normally dosnt happen

When I shut my machine down the motherboard trace LEDs stay illuminated that's normal, with the ROG stuff you can turn it off in the Bios via Advanced>ROG effects option.

EDIT: You may also want to toggle ErP in the bios, seeing as Corsair PSUs don't support it.

What is erp? Maybe not help with my issues as well?

ErP Support determines whether to let the system consume less than 1W of power in S5 (shutdown) state. When the setting is enabled, the following four functions will become unavailable: PME Event Wake Up, Power On By Mouse, Power On By Keyboard, and Wake On LAN.

Having a Corsair PSU, should I disable this?

AlienALX is right, ErP (Energy ready Product) is something I've been researching, and has as far as I can tell been responsible for many (not all) motherboard cold boot issues. All motherboards have this feature now but not all PSU manufacturers have caught up yet.

A motherboard when switched on is expecting a set voltage/wattage to allow safe power on state and then begins the post sequence, if the motherboard ErP is active and the PSU does not comply the motherboard sees too much voltage and then activates the overvoltage protection which creates a cold boot environment.

Very interesting!! From what I can see my PSU is compliant (through forum posts rather than the product page). I'll check the BIOS upon booting - maybe it will help with my problem (very small maybe ha ha)! So is this something you'll write an article on sometime? It's definitely something that peaks my interest.

Not yet no, with all companies becoming energy compliant now it will be a thing of the past very quickly. I'll keep looking into it though.

C-states are for the CPU which are there to determine the voltage used during certain environments ie idle, full load, hibernation ect ect.

EDIT: What does your motherboard manual say about power saving or sleep states? I'm only using mobile internet sadly so don't have access to the Asus pdfs.

Oddly enough I remember Corsair making an announcement to say that certain PSUs would not work with Haswell. It was either Haswell or Ivy. I didn't pay any attention to it at the time because I was on AMD but I definitely remember there being an incompatibility somewhere.

I don't know if this has any bearing on your issues but it could do?

I tried resetting my OC back to stock and reinstalling drivers and still nothing happens. The error code remains when i turn the PC off and to wake the PC from sleep it reboots 3 times and then finally wakes. I have 3 LED fans 2 on the front which turn off completely and 1 on the bottom which stops spinning but the LED remains on.
