Asus PB279Q 4K IPS

Resident Newb
4K IPS Incoming

So with the recent torrent of 4K monitors we've really only had TN panels which for the majority of people are fine but for the photography and colour enthusiats aren't quite up there with IPS panels.

Asus have announced the Asus PB279Q, A 27 inch 4K IPS panel that runs at 60 Hz, Has a response time of 5Ms grey to grey, 1 billion colours thanks to it's 10 bit ability and some 2w inbuilt speakers which are always handy as a back up, Visually it is identical to it's other Asus siblings with the same swivel, Pivot and tilt options -

While the monitor isn't exactly aimed at gamers it commands a hefty price tag of £650 compared to the 28 inch TN 4K panel from Asus with 1Ms response time and pretty much the same feature set which comes in at £450.

No date has been announced yet by Asus.

You're already buying this in your head ain't ya Dicehunter

Hahaha I was thinking the same. "Hmm, Nicholas Cage might look better on this over my current 4K". *Checks wallet* "Well...I'd be left with a tenner but okay, pre-order time!" :D

Actually for once I'm not, I've got both a TN and IPS panel and to me the difference is so small it would not be worth it, I've done side by side comparisons and the difference from a good TN panel to an IPS panel is miniscule.

I could see photographers loving it though for the colour accuracy.

Nick cage needs 16K to look his best, Current technology can't keep up with the cage !

Fair enough mate haha, I personally still want a ROG Swift.
.....just not the price tag that comes along with it haha.

Also you have a serious Nic Cage problem, though I must say wondercage made my day

It's just for fun really, It's funny seeing peoples reactions, Making assumptions about my personal life and also reporting me, Quite a few times XD

For 4K 24 inch is way too small, There's been a few reviews and Wendle from Tek Syndicate did one on that Dell and pretty much everyone in the professional review scene stated that 4K doesn't make sense at such a small size.

not quite. they reviewed the UP2414Q, the one i linked is the P2415Q

It's a great offering and it sounds like it will come in at a good price just a shame it's only 27". I'm glad monitor news has no effect on me now i've got a swift, every scrap of news or release used to tear me apart with confusion, desire and disappointment. Now it's just like meh, let me know when you plan to release a 32" 4k 144hz panel Asus, if it's TN I don't mind as long as it's good. I still have a little soft spot for the Ultrasharp 32 and the U2414's.

Just my taste but to me 24 inch is horribly small and it's ok for 1080 but 4K anyone with sense will tell you 24 inch is just a big no when it comes to ultra high res, Yeah sure the pixel density is nice but what's the point of having all that extra desktop space if your screen is only suitable for leprechauns ^_^

32" at 4k is probably a sweet spot. W7/8 don't scale to well with it so they need slightly bigger screens. Hopefully w10 will solve that problem.

I want that but it needs to be able to do 120hz so i can turn of vsync. I really really hate tearing, but also dont like TN panels, picky me :D

I'm going to stick with my current Asus 4K panel until I can move on to a 4K panel that is 144Hz with G-sync, Anything else would be a sidegrade at best.

Nice, I'd rather the faster response time of the TN, Plus the TN even next to my asus IPS panel looks amazing, Obviously not photo artist colour but to play games and watch films I don't need photographer levels of colour, This would be a sidegrade at best for anyone with 4K already.
