Okay lads..and ladies

Iv got an E6600 and i need a new cooler.

So i'v read around and both the arctic freezer 7 pro and the thermaltake big typhoon seem like really good coolers at a very reasonable price.

Soooo question: which one is better and preferably quite?

The BT is actualy a very good cooler, one of TTs good products (yes there are a few). We have reviews of both on the site.

yeah i saw the reviews and they both looked good at what they do best, but you know how it is....

you want something, then u see something else and you wonder whether u should spend that little bit extra to get that for that little bit more performance

well thanx for the super fast input, the arctic freezer it is then (or will be in the next week, unless someone can point me to an even better cooler for that low price range of £30 :P )

The BT can be a beastly cooler, but as you saw from my review, requires a few things to run at its absolute best. I do so love my BT, but in your situation, I would probably go for the Freezer due to the price point.

The Big Typhoon is BIG! :)

I ended up going for the freezer7 pro myself tho, price was good at the time (£14) and I thought the Typhoon was just too big. Also the freezer7 was better for the way my case cooling is setup.

AC Freezer Pro 7 - very cheap, very quiet

I like the Freezer better as it blows the air out the back and is less $$.

This is keeping in mind that i dont really want to oc it, atleast not by much any way.
AC Freezer Pro 7 - very cheap, very capable and quiet. The BT is also an awesome cooler, but if you aren't looking to overclock, I'd stick with the AC Freezer 7. Depending on your hardware in the case; I have heard that the speed controller on the BT can pull up a bit short. But, the AC7 controls fan speed via PWM if your motherboard supports it

yeah my mobo supports PWM and iv also got an external fan controller for the other fans in my case.

Im thinking of getting a new case aswell, cause the one i have now is about 5 years old and has 2 80mm fans making more noise than a jet engine and not extracting much air. I would have changed it for a bigger fan, but the case only has vents big enough for 80 mm

well i got a arctic freezer pro and im impressed.

My temps have fallen from:

idle 55, gaming 62, 100% 75

to

idle 39, gaming 44, 100% 55

:) :) :) :)

thanx for the input :D

i would have gone for the tuniq tower i have been running orthos for the last three hours while surfing and playing music and my temps havent got above 40c just my 2p
