Arctic Cooling Accelero S1

I just bought this GPU cooler, mainly just to stop the noise from my x1900xt stock cooler seems to randomly put out :)

I tried installing it and 1st problem was the voltage reg HS doesn't fit as it's too big and components are in the way. So I thought "nvm I'll leave the stock one on".

Next problem came when I put the mem heatsinks on. The tape wasn't even sticky. I pushed them down firmly, but as soon as you turn the card over at least 2 of them fall off :(

Also to make matters worse the heatpipe touches the bottom RAM sink :( not that I'd be happy to turn the pc on with the supplied RAMSinks :(

Anyway, I was wandering if anyone else has this cooler and if they have, whether they had any problems. Maybe I'm just unlucky or something :( complete waste of £11 tho

Mine fit on my Sapphire X1900XT fine. No probs at all. Temps are nice and low and im ocing as much as the ATI drivers will allow.

Edit: I kept the voltage reg HS on.

I might order some zalman ramsinks as the ones with it are just a waste of time :(

I did have some new heat tape somewhere. I cba RMAing it as it was only £11 :( prob cost too much to send it back.

The tape to put on the ram was sticky enough for me, and it is very quiet. I have the fan @ 100% all the time and i cant hear it above the case fans in my pc. If you can get it sorted, id do it.

When I fitted a zalman cooler to my old 6600gt, the flower thing wouldnt fit over the ram heatsinks. What I did was use plyers to bend some fins on the ram heatsinks back and forth till they snapped off and then file them down a bit.

I agree the sticky pads are

, I'm sure I just put a bit of thermal paste on there and they've stuck since....

Don`t u just get blindly effed tho if they fall off in u`r case and u haven`t noticed ?

God-help the card underneath it too with conductive stuff landing on it`s back.

I never trust thermal pads for the reason rasta pointed out. Arctic adhesive all the way.

It doesn't have a fan tho

I'm thinking of maybe buying some of this stuff :) the postage is quite expensive tho, unless specialtech or someone can do a price match with free delivery :D

I'm really annoyed that I can't find my old tape tho :( altho what a cheapo way of doing things.

I was thinking what Rasto said also, what happens if they fall off while in your case without you noticing :(

I found some proper heatsink stuff from about 5years ago (from my geforce4 Ti4200) in my spares :)

I've got the cooler on now and it seems quite good. The temps are better than the stock one. It's also amazing how much noise the stock one was making.

I'm prob going to do a mini-review on my site :) have lots of pics etc.

I've done a mini-review on the cooler on my website :)

Overall the Accelero S1 seems a good cooler. I was dissapointed by the poorly designed parts tho, the regulator heatsink was way too big, altho I could imagine someone forcing it on, crushing the components which were in the way. Also the RAMSinks were a major dissapointment.

I ended up putting on my stock cooler to play a cs:s match.

If I hadn't of found some thermal pads I had, it would have cost me an extra £9+ for either Arctic Silver Epoxy or Some new RAMSinks.

The temperatures are around 10°C lower than the stock cooler and it is actually silent as it is passive.

I got some Arctic adhesive from TheCoolingEmporium, to glue the heatsinks on my S1, they were alot cheaper than all the other sites I looked at and delivered within 2 days.
