Apple iMac 27" 3.2GHz core i3.

tbh, i dunno if they will

only thing i could advise is the next major revision is comming summer next year with the release of mac osx lion ....

but by the looks of it, it looks pants, so im glad i got mine while snow leopard is still standard...

dont forget the jan VAT increases too, another reason i got mine now...

i will also add if £1500 isnt a viable option (i was lucky, ...but i dont wanna explain any further)

they do a 21.5" version with 1080p resolution for 999

mine was only so much because i got the printer, the extra trackpad, and the remote, and apple care...

without those, it would have been a fair bit cheaper tbh...1300 i believe...

which isnt bad for just the monitor itself, a 27" with IPS, (a technology that allows extreme angled viewing of the screen without the colours looking worse or anything)

is neerly that price

and this comes with the whole pc, OS etc all included in one.

as you can surely see from my pics, the 27" is too big for my desk, didnt stop me, ...its the best for value/price ...

the 21" is good, and the upgraded one is good, but the base model 27" IMO! is the best for value for ££

EDIT: anyone else got any questions, info they wish to see, or other details they want me to add? ...

Update 2

after having lived with this for 4 days, i can tell you the screen attracts dust and dirt like a b45t4rd ....

the apple cleaning cloth is brilliant though, i dont think its micro fibre, but its ...somthing...one wipe over, and the screen is perfect again, i have no idea what material it is, closest thing it feels to is velvet...

also, it crashed on me!

i will admit, it was trying to open a folder with 640 Gb of music, and it just crashed....so fair play

second time it tried, it opened it perfectly...

also, my external HDD, which is formatted in NTFS, it can read, but it cant write to ...annoying ...

so i need to get a new external, bit bigger, format it in mac format, copy across what i need, then format the smaller one ....or perhaps just use it with my windows pc again, i dunno yet...

thanks, but a bit too late, i bought a WD elements ext hdd, formatted it in mac format, then coppied all my data across, then formatted my first one in mac format too, and spread my data across the two...

but thanks anyway

Nice review, was a good read I agree with you on most of the pro's and cons because my other half has the 24 inch previous generation, they honestly should have put those ports you described on the latest generation.

Wish I'd taken Apple Care out on my MBP to be honest optical drives not reading disks, and it's only just gone over 12months old just my luck lol Good luck hope you enjoy all that extra screen space, and avoid the burnouts everyones been talking about ;-)

I was extremely close to purchasing the 27" Mac but I went with my current build (signature) instead. Reading this...I regret it a little , but I haven't had one single crash in the 3/4 months I've had it.

nice review.... honestly i wouldnt spend USD$1700 on a computer when im only getting a i3

viruses or no viruses (honestly i cant recall whens the last time i got a virus)

i do love those screens though

i do love those screens though

its not $1700, its £1700, which when roughly converted is about $3000

and i love the ease of not needing AV software, or needing things running constantly just to have peace of mind, unlocks the power for...everything else, aka things i do

im happy with it, its been the best computer ive had by far

but im sure i would have been equally happy with a pc of the same spec, or better spec, but i just like the simplicity of it.

Google Hackintosh. With some Intel processors you can install Mac OS X natively and multiboot it with Windows...I know because my mate did it (I didn't because I have an AMD processor).

if you came to the UK, bought it, with money transfered into £, it would be about 3000, but buying it in the US, it would be possibly $1700 ...

its just VAT and other such hoo-har in this country that pushes the price of things up

i got the optional apple care with it, to extend the warenty, as there is a special price for students, and i got the remote at 20 quid, and the trackpad at 59, bargins in my opinion, and all very useful

i also went for the wired keyboard instead of the wireless one, im not a big wireless fan to be honest, id rather have my desk draped in wires and know that i dont have to be paying out for batteries all the time...

and viruses dont tend to be a problem for me, but its still nice to not have to worry at all...ever

i couldnt either then, my main rig is a 939 4200+ system

It's a common misconception that Macs do not and cannot ever get a virus. Viruses have previously been installed to a Mac when installing add on software or downloading something, it's true and it has happened. If you want I can get you a link. Also, some people will be working hard all the time to find more malicious viruses and software for Macs - it isn't set in stone that a virus won't be developed in the future.

If you already have an iMac (which you do), it is possible. Here: http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/09/install-snow-leopard-106-on-amd-pc-hackintosh/

im quite aware they can exist, but the odds are so much lower that its hardly worth mentioning? ...

and as for that second link, fascinating, but mind bogglingly complex, much simpler just to buy a mac

and have the sexy hardware aswell as the sleak OS
