LGA 2011 socket, mobos will be on the X79 chipset.

Sandy Bridge E CPUs, Enthusiast levels, enthusiast prices. Still 32nm, but a good improvement on Sandy Bridge in terms of performance.

Will be 8 cores, 4 memory channels supported, 32x PCIe 3 Lanes.

Works with 1366 coolers.

Is sandy bridge e = ivy bridge? and if not can someone explain or link to something that explains what SB-e is?

Sandy Bridge E: 32nm, LGA 2011 socket, X79 Chipset, releases Q3 2011. Not sure on performance increase over Sandy Bridge, enthusiast level CPUs (and prices), replacing LGA1366 socket/X58 chipset.

Ivy Bridge: 22nm, LGA 1155 socket (backward compatible, maybe a new socket as well), H67/P67/Z68 chipset, releases Q4 2011, most likely Q1 2012. 20% increase on Sandy Bridge performance, mainstream CPUs

No, Ivy Bridge will be the first 22nm processor from Intel, and its just a die shrink.

Sandy Bridge E is like a supped-up version of the current Sandy Bridge.

Yeah keeping the Sandy Bridge E moniker doesn't make sense imo, it can take a while to get your head around all the different sockets, chipsets and roadmaps.
